I just learned Sir Duke at my guitar lesson about 3 weeks ago. I also just quit guitar lessons about 2 weeks ago (for reasons unrelated to Sir Duke).

I'd like to think that this movie beat Seth MacFarlane's by $4 million in just two theaters.

I logged in just to like this comment.

That's what I thought until I saw the movie. The scene where they all take a solo on a blues tune showed that it was clearly the Edge that was out of his depth. I mean, obviously, the blues is more in Page's and White's wheelhouse, but the Edge seemed to not even understand the basic concept.

I get that. What I don't get is everyone claiming that Aerosmith or the Stones or whoever should retire. As long as people are will to pay to see them play, why not continue? I never hear people bitching that John Lee Hooker or BB King played well past their prime and should have quit 25 years earlier.

Really? Lake of Fire? I always thought that song had, quite possibly, the worst lyrics of any song ever professionally recorded. I was downright shocked that someone as brilliant lyrically as Cobain would sing that.

Join a band. Women throw themselves at musicians, even (especially?) shitty musicians. I speak from experience - it was downright shocking how easy it was to have casual hookups once my band started gigging.

All we did was check to be sure the rest of the stuff was done properly. I don't know what DLR-like thing we could have done, though. It's not like we could trash the store room or start a riot by not showing up at the bar we owned.

Yeah, I seriously either of those clowns(!) is interested in that sort of thing. My comment was more about the nature of that sort of power. The disenfranchised can often be easily led.

The frightening this, though, is that if Violent J and Shaggy decided to go that route, Juggaloes would undoubtledly follow.

The other day, my son had his ipod playing and I said, "this music is terrible." He replied, "It's ICP."

David Lee Roth claims that (no brown M&Ms) was his idea because no one had done the kind of tours that Van Halen was doing back in the day (i.e., multiple tractor-trailers worth of just staging and whatnot). Don't know if it's really true, but he claims it is. For the record, we also used to do that at the bar I

Wait, did Mike, Craig, Andy and Jim really have to split two beers?

Always loved him in Sid and Nancy. "If I had a girl, I wouldn't let her treat me like that."

Morrissey killed Mick Ronson!

Spin Doctors always struck me as a perfectly serviceable bar band that for some reason got a record contract and hit songs. Some with Candlebox and Collective Soul.

Musically, it's their best song, but the lyrics are still terrible. It's basically Durst whining that everyone hates him.

Real-life Spinal Tap moments thread:

Dan once said that all guys are obsessed with cock, but for straight guys, it's just the one.

My Sharona has one of the best guitar solos of all time. The single version, without the solo, is pretty damned easy to get sick of, though.
