I liked the book more than the miniseries as it's a bit more subtle and detailed. But Richard Armitage is pretty much perfectly cast as Thornton.

I finished The Moviegoer by Walker Percy a couple of weeks ago. It feels more like an extended short story, but I fell in love with it early on.
The fact is I am quite happy in a movie, even a bad movie. Other people, so I have read, treasure memorable moments in their lives: the time one climbed the Parthenon at…

I don't think Phipps is implying that Skyfall was misogynist. But with the death of Dench's M, future Bond movies will lack a strong female character. Severine's quick death (after sleeping with Bond with hardly any prelude) seems to forebode that Bond girls in future installments will be disposable characters too.…

Both "football" and "soccer" are abbreviations of "association football".

This adaptation doesn't use the framing device either, though I've always found its use in the book a bit belaboured. But I guess it does act as a distancing mechanism and makes Catherine and Heathcliff's relationship even more inexplicable and strange to an outsider.

This movie's more impressionistic than a literal adaptation of the book. I found it pretty interesting, especially the focus on Cathy and Heathcliff's intense relationship as children.

And it's got Tom Waits!

I quite liked it too, though I think 2 Days in Paris is a better film overall. The ending here was weaker and Delpy's character (and her family) was even more manic and quirkier. But it was still kind of enjoyable in a low-key way. B- atleast.
