I also liked the subversion of expectations. Steve at his core was a decent guy, and the edgy outsider is actually a creepy sneering prick… maybe there's a reason he had no friends.

Also the fucking commercials kind of tell you how to pronounce it…

Guts is pretty much just stupidity that paid off!

On the upside, Telegraph Hovel sees an opportunity for a comeback!

Nah, "Classic Manimal" was the self-upvoting version. It's like when Coke removed the cocaine… just hasn't been the same since.

And it didnt even really matter! It kind of excused Tennessee's decision to risk moving the ship closer in the storm so he could find out about his (dead) wife, but it's not like they died from that decision, and he went in for the rescue even after finding out she died.

All that counts is we're alive and rubbing elbows with the greats.
Ooh! There's Ross Perot.
Dr. Laura.
Spike Lee.
Wait a minute…

Yeah, I kept waiting for a reveal that David triggered the pulse or something, but nope, they just happened to get the spacefaring equivalent of a flat tire outside the mad scientist's castle.

It's only 40 years later that I wonder why Luke just didnt cut through the door with his newly acquired lightsaber…

I wish I was high on potenuse!

Except for missing the whole "can only be killed by silver" part!

There's various levels of invulnerability… total, near, nigh, quasi, vaguely, somewhat, and, my own personal level, non.

"You realize computer code is a language and I can hack into any system? Bring down the entire internet, crash the stock market, disrupt infrastructure? I reprogrammed these Doombots too… Enjoy being 'nigh invlunerable while you're a blastin' you inbred hillbilly!"

So… better? Because the CW superhero shows actually look good. They managed to mostly pull off a giant telepathic gorilla and a shark man.

I'll never not upvote this reference!

My favorite example of an actor needlessly doing something for a role is Ryan Gosling randomly deciding to put on 60 pounds of fat for The Lovely Bones… without bothering to run that by anyone first.

You mean other than introducing 3 new instantly likable heroes and a nuanced, conflicted villain that will carry the story onward for a new generation? TFA has potential, RO didnt reveal anything significant we didn't already know. You can skip it and miss nothing other than an admittedly fun snarky robot. Try saying

Agreed. RO was for Star Wars "fans" who really only like Empire. The leads are bland, poorly characterized plot movers, with Jyn barely doing anything active for most of it. The plot is a slightly interesting footnote, but ultimately doesn't expand the saga in any meaningful way.
