I'm one of those incoming college freshmen and I definitely used cassettes when i was little. We had a car that only played cassettes (we plugged in a walkman to play CDs) until I was about 8-9. So yes, I do remember some of that stoneage technology. Vaguely.

Not entirely true. Australia was the season where the producers had to bail out the contestants because they weren't getting enough food, and then their camp was washed away in a flash flood. And australia is almost universally considered one of the best seasons, myself included
