I suppose it's too late to request that the next episode be titled "How Ava Got Her Grubes Back"?

Agreed, this was way beyond her sarcasm in previous seasons. Think about it: She didn't even call him—the woman he was in love with comes back to NY and their first contact is when she runs into him at Duane Reade? I get that her character is damaged, too, but her behavior was just awful.

Will: "How will Hannibal be caught?"
Bedelia: "Whimsy…is that his name? No, I'm sorry, I meant 'Winston'."

I also just realized that he mostly eats organs; maybe the fear thing is just about flesh.
I also may be over-thinking this a smidge.

Nice.

Will's definitely running a longpork con on Hannibal.

The whole "acidic = fear" thing bothered me. Are we supposed to believe that all of Hannibal's victim/meals were super relaxed when they died?

I'm starting to wonder if Will and Jack talked about this during their ice fishing trip. "If you want me to catch him, we're probably both going to have to eat more human flesh." "Yeah, well, I've been continuously barfing for the last three straight weeks, so I guess a little more won't kill me."

Also, when someone has framed you for murder once already, maybe don't let him wash the DNA-rich blood off of your hand into some kind of Tupperware container.

Was it just me, or did Hannibal and Will both seem sort of gleefully smug while they were emotionally cockblocking Alana?

Good point. On re-watch, when Will sets Buster down, it looks like he has puncture/bite marks on his flank, but with all of the blood it's hard to tell.

Me too. I think they're doing a good job of underscoring that the real peril isn't physical danger, it's that Will enjoys the game so much (because he's so good at it, and has an intimacy with Hannibal he can never have with another person).

I love the use of this child-like phrase in the context of a bunch of hideous murders. At some point I fully expect Hannibal to invoke a "No takesies backsies" policy.

I originally thought so, too, but they went out of their way to show how mercilessly powerful those jaws were. The only way around that is if Manbearwolf had specifically engineered his rig with a "people" setting and a much more gentle "Buster" setting.

I think you mean "godless killing machines."

I love that the broom-snapping murder jaws just lightly grazed Buster. After all we've seen on this show, when it comes to killing a dog, everyone is like "Whoa, let's not go crazy."

Mr. Fuller, if you are reading this, PLEASE stop having mental health professionals use the phrase "How did that make you feel?" Not using that particular phrase (because it's such a cliche, and implies that a client is powerless over his/her feelings) is one of the first things they teach you at therapy school.

Except that, if memory serves, he uses melted chocolate to sexually assault his victims. I think we're to understand that he injured her arm to punish her for resisting.

Murducken.
