I ditched school one day back in 98 and sat home watching MTV, and the video for Be Quiet and Drive came on. I was so excited because It was the first time I'd seen a metal video on MTV outside of the crappy once per week rock show we got here in England (which was usually the same Tool, Soundgarden and Pantera videos

No doubt. The last record with Chi, Saturday Night Wrist, was an absolute mess. It took a horrible tragedy to re-focus the band and enable them to produce some of their best work.

Oh totally. The idea that people would lump Deftones in with the likes of Disturbed is appalling to me.

Favourite Chi bassline - 'Korea' from White Pony. Go check it out.

2000 was a great year for heavy/hard music. Deftones' White Pony, QOTSA's Rated R, and At The Drive-In's Relationship of Command all came out. That's a banner year right there.

I never understood that. Not only was it not reviewed in the regular music section, but it was also overlooked in Loud, the specifically metal feature.

You lost me at Girls.

I'd buy that for a dollar.

You lost me at "poo".

Who?

Who?

At the risk of sounding glib, this event will certainly provide them with some interesting emotional ammo to put into their songwriting. I've a feeling the next record will be significantly darker than Yellow & Green.

As annoying as it is to see things like "metal band Baroness…" it's infinitely preferable to the patently inaccurate "punk rock band Baroness…" that appeared on the Huffington Post.

They should add a 'hate' button next to the 'like'.

Probably would have made sense to use a recent band photo that actually contains the band members who were part of the crash, rather than ones who departed the band several years ago.

Hope all the guys are OK. I was at the Sheffield gig on Monday night and it was phenomenal.
