Brazilian roots, surely?

Lovely stuff. Not my words…the words of Shakin' Stevens.

Phil - you've spelt his name incorrectly multiple times. It's Jefferies.

David Tennant is Scottish, which, if anything, is whiter than English.

"Diverse ensemble"?

God damn I'm gonna miss John Cooper. I really hope Cudlitz gets another good gig soon.

First Chi Cheng, and now Jeff. Fucking sucky year for metal musicians.

Ghost rule.

I'd say start with their breakthrough White Pony, then the most recent Koi No Yokan, then the immortal Around The Fur. If you enjoy those then go for the self titled record, my personal favourite but not their most accessible.

The majority of the covers on B-Sides and Rarities are gold. Other covers not on that record worth seeking out are 'Night Boat' (Duran Duran) and 'Do You Believe' (The Cardigans).

I was surprised that Entertainment Weekly mentioned it. I didn't think their writers were capable of dragging themselves away from The Real Housewives of Who Gives A Fuck for long enough to write about something important.

It's a shame that the only time I saw Deftones with Chi was during the time when Chino would regularly go on stage drunk/drugged out of his mind. His vocals were appalling and marred the whole show.

I love the story that the record label were unhappy with the decidedly un-radio friendly White Pony, so demanded they write something more commercial. Chino knocked out the rap from Back to School in a few minutes just to prove that he could, and it ended up becoming one of their biggest hits. I believe the band

Playing b-side gem Teething, no less.

I think my issue with SOAD now is Serj's vocals. When they first came out I thought he was the second coming of Mike Patton, with his range and vocal tics. Now though it just seems unbearably quirky.

Yeah it's very weak, especially compared to the unbeatable TV Club.

Kerrang is a god-awful magazine, but I have to thank them for introducing me to so much good music in my youth. Every so often they'd attach a free CD to an issue, which introduced the 14 year old me to a hell of a lot of great bands, Deftones included.

Semi-comatose. Some responsiveness to stimuli, but not much. No kind of life really.

Yeah, there'll be a push to release it as some sort of tribute to Chi. I am very intrigued to hear what it sounds like.

There was a time where I'd have put Deftones and System of a Down on a par, but now I can listen to anything Deftones have done and enjoy it (even the more nu-metally parts of Adrenaline) whereas listening to SOAD just makes me cringe with embarrassment.
