I knew that the mohel's broken glass speech was good, but seeing it transcribed has made me realise just how great it is. Sometimes seeing things in print makes you (or at least, me) appreciate how wonderful the writing is more than just hearing it performed.

I watched this episode myself recently and, despite having seen the episode many many times already, was absolutely floored by the "fat little mental patient" line. Just brilliant.

The reviews were by Claire Zulkey and were utterly awful. They were simply recaps of what happened, lacking in any thought or analysis.

I agree, I wanted to like it, I really did, but it never quite got there. But I'm glad for a second season, any excuse for more David Cross on my TV is valid.

I didn't say she WAS a chav, I said she has a chav face (she has the same look as those fag smoking, tracksuit wearing n'er do wells that you see hanging around UK shopping centres). And I also clearly stated that I think she's a very talented actress.

More fool you for assuming that 'chav' is equivalent to 'lower class'. Chavs are a very specific sub-section of society; workshy, agressive, badly dressed, bitter, scrounging thugs. The vast majority of working class people don't share these traits. When I, and most people, refer to chavs we are referring to this

I'm with fbihop, you could definitely imagine Don King making those references.

"I know a cracking owl sanctuary".

Has to be Byker Grove. Mind you, that might be down to my inate pro-northern/anti-southern bias.

I'm sold on the show because of the three leads. I think Lindo, Beals and especially Clarke are doing superb work. I'd never seen Clarke in anything before this and am really impressed with the guy.

Lindo is almost always superb, and he's killing it in this show.

You're right, he did shoot him in the face. It was mentioned multiple times in the episode.

Lacey Turner is a problem for me. On one hand she is a genuinely good actress, but on the other hand she has that awful chav face that I want to punch.

My favourite morning drive parody was the KBBL guys on the Simpsons saying "That was Men Without Hats… or as they're known today, Men Without Jobs!".

Lowe kills it again.
Rob Lowe's line readings in this episode were sublime. When he said that the tea was difficult to drink his delivery reminded me of when Kramer would offhandedly dismiss something in Seinfeld.

I've rewatched "Mixology" a couple times since it first broadcast and have come to like it more than I originally did, but I still think the third act abandonment of comedy is jarring and tonally wrong for the show.

Olivia Munn's Pocahontas face is literally the only reason I watch that show.

Darker episodes
Whilst this episode went to a darker place like "Mixology", for me this one was far more successful because it allowed for the darkness without sacrificing the comedy. "Mixology" was far too self-serious and out of step with the tone the show had set for itself, this episode is far more tonally

ZMF is now so associated with caps lock that he should try and patent the concept as his intellectual property, and sue anyone else that ever uses it.

I'm all for the reboot. It's too good a franchise to leave alone, and the Maguire version had run its course. Keeping the franchise alive with new blood is the best thing to do.
