I prefer mechanical purely because it's true to the comics, but I never understood the furore over the bio shooters. Surely if we can conceed the spider bite gave him the ability to climb walls we can also accept that it gave him the ability to shoot webs?

I don't think that BBT is meant to be an accurate depiction of geek culture. The characters are PhD holding scientists, not run-of-the-mill comic book nerds.

This episode contains pieces from ep3 (the accidental proposal) and ep4 (the missing kid) from the UK original.

On the child actor theme how about Fred Savage? From The Wonder Years to being director and producer for It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Party Down.

Apparently Ice Cube is not for the pop charts. He is, however, for risible family films and crappy TBS sitcoms based on risible family films.

I don't think you can use 'evanescence' in a real conversation anymore as it would be followed by a perplexed look by the other party, then you saying "no, not the shitty fucking band".

Yeah I'm probably exaggerating to say that he's massively improving (as I thought he was really rather good in Alpha Dog), but I think he has the potential to be a very good actor indeed.

Yeah, that's a fair point. Mastodon's change was growth, whereas Pantera's was abrupt.

It is her, it was tweeted by Russell Brand.

Cracked put out like 76 lists per day, so its no surprise that other sites sometimes overlap. It's like that "Simpsons did it" episode of South Park.

@SarCCastro - "massively improving" was a reference to Timberlake, not Marky Mark.

"She looks British"? What the fuck does that mean?!

McCain 2005 - "I'm a maverick"
McCain 2010 - "I never said I was a maverick"

Yep, Seona Dancing they were called. He must thank his lucky stars that they failed miserably.

Sure, it was there, but listen to Leviathan then listen to Crack The Skye. An untrained ear would guess they were two different bands.

Yeah, Leslie Nielsen, definitely. On a smaller scale John C Reilly went from a dramatic character actor to a superb comic lead seemingly overnight.

I sometimes wonder if those guys sit around and ask each other "do you remember when we had some actual respect within the hip-hop community?". But then I guess they'd just go take a shower in champagne or something.

Metal
This kind of transformation tends to happen quite a lot in metal. Pantera and Ministry are the most extreme examples but you've also got Mastodon moving from sludge to prog, Sepultura from thrash to groove, Deftones from nu-metal to alt rock, etc.

Marky Mark's transformation defintely counts. I would also say that Justin Timberlake's transformation from curly haired boy-bander to R&B superstar to massively improving actor counts.

Yeah, Matt's character is so tonally inconsistent. The strange thing though is that LeBlanc is nailing every tone. I'm really impressed with his work so far, especially this week in what was otherwise the worst episode so far (in terms of humour, at least).
