Nah, PTP has my vote as being one of the funniest commenters around. And funnier than Tarkovsky thanks to writing shorter comments - and making substantially more sense, in that nonsensical way they both shoot for.

    Hear hear.

    Seriously fucking true.

I agree that Harry Crane is destined for bigger things. But will he really develop the personality or the brains to be the big shot at this firm? I'm not so sure.

Zardoz is not a *fantastic* movie. Obvi (per the avatar) I do love it in its way. I did have the misfortune, a few months back, of seeing it entirely sober and all the way through. I'd seen it many, many times previously, but it seems I was high each of those times.

"emotional maturity level of a blueberry scone" - spectacular.

    The popcorn
Reason # 116 why I love Anya: her eating of the popcorn in that there scene from Hush.

    This scene
When I saw that you were doing a scene from Double Indemnity, I figured it must be this scene. In the one film class I took (on Wilder's films - a freakin' great class), we looked at this in depth, and I ended up writing a paper largely on it. Great analysis of it here. And a great feature altogether.

    Nah
Just watching it now. Lemme say, a 'fore I read the rest of the comments, that I read the comments, that I think this episode was an A-. Not absolutely transcendent, not as good as the last episode, but a damn fine one nonetheless. The symbolism was overwraught at points, sure. Still a fucking good episode.

    But . . .
What's the rating , Rabin? Is it an F? Or an F-? Or is this from the days before letter grades?

    Phone company!

    @harbinger

    I liked it
The final episode of BSG, that is. I'm not sure that I can defend it against the huge amounts of withering criticism that have been directed its way - but I really, really enjoyed it. Perhaps not the resolution of Starbuck, but that wasn't such a big deal when the rest of it was so much fun.

I did instantly queue up The Stunt Man, only to find out that Netflix doesn't have it yet. What's that about? It's out on DVD (or at least was, at some point in the not-too-distant past)

I second the A+++ for EvelKareebel. Thas' brilliant, tha is.

I vote for (1) the book, (2) Soderberg, and (3) in a distant, not even in the competition, third, Tarkovsky's version. Maybe I have no taste for Russian art films, but I sat through his version twice, and found it to be intensely tedious and generally lacking in value. But man, I may yet give it a further go. Maybe

Cautiously what? What are you and Rabin up to? Enlighten us!

I'll just throw my hat in the ring in support of Mann as one of the finest directors working today, and not overrated in the least. I am a huge fan of genre movies in general - and he does brilliant work with them.

My choice of place not to live
The world o' Battlestar Galatica. Crikies, what an awful fucking place. I'd just vomit in terror and die within hours.

    Fookin' hilarious
    For realsies. Thanks for posting.
