Let me throw another vote in there for longer write-ups. The episodes are far too complex and event-filled (even more so than The Wire, which tended to move slowly) to be covered by the standard approach to summarizing. While I don't think TWOP length is useful, either, I think that if you're gonna

I sorta agree on the Wilder part (his last great film, in my opinion, is The Apartment, from 1960), but I disagree on the Hitchcock part. One of my favorite movies of his is Frenzy, from 1972. I think a lot of his later stuff (i.e. Marnie, Topaz, Family Plot) isn't great. But I love Frenzy. Perhaps partially

    Thanks
For getting the review to us post-haste, that is. And I'm still down to see it, even though I'm betting your review is spot-on.

    Fuckin' Criterion
I love ya and your awesome editions. Having only previously seen this on a copy of craptastic quality, I'm pysched about seeing it with a touch of clarity (and actually being able to hear all this Mamet-esque dialogue).

    Some sort of Murakami, perhaps?
Maybe Kafka on the Shore? Or, you know, one of 'em many books o' his.

    Super Sweet!
Friends of Eddie Coyle has been a long time coming. I've only seen it on a recording from TV that was purchased off of e-bay. It was not the highest quality. So far as I could tell from the poor quality, it was not only a damn fine movie, but (at least until Gone, Baby, Gone) the best "Boston" movie

    Thirding that.

I'm glad to hear there's a little bit of love out there for the Miami Vice movie, but I do believe we who appreciate it are very much in the minority.

    Snuh.

Second ONCE WERE WARRIORS. I don't think I actually cried, but dear christ, if anything brought me close, it was that fucking movie.

Lexi, you're very much onto something. Liberals should not be so quick to revise their positions on Reagan. Or at least younger liberals who had less personal experience with him shouldn't see him as some sort of fucking rational conservative. He was a crazily fucking stupid fucking ass who set up the US (and the

    Influential Films
It's a fine list. But I do feel it's missing something in the noir department. Double Indemnity, perhaps, instead of The Searchers?

    Top Five Characters
This is not so easy to decide for this show. For me, though, it's likely:

    Brought peace?

Hear hear, Stiff. All too true. Numerous hotties 'round these parts- they just ain't particularly nice.

Thanks, Noel, for the prompt reply. I concede that I most definitely skip all the commercials I can when watching a DVR'd show - except for The Watchmen preview.

    DVRs
How, in this wonderous new world of DVRs, are they accounting for folks like myself who only watched it last night?

The truth is, Binkley, that you look like a carrot.

The Impartial Judge's ruling made it worthwhile. Maybe.

The early ones are largely interchangeable:
