Seconded. I have said it before on these boards, but I'll say it again: I see myself as one who can appreciate and enjoy artsy-fartsy or challenging cinema, but this one just does not do it for me at all. I have tried to watch it three times, and fallen asleep each time. I had to watch it in parts to get through it

I concur; a damn fine review indeed. Also, reading about this (i.e. reading a review of a tv movie about the first reality tv series) seems like the most meta-goddamned thing I've done in a long time.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with this and the rest of the comments here. This shit is fun, but it is pretty fucking bland. Worth streaming on Netflix, though!

Ha! Good one Rowan. (Unless you're not joking. Cf. "Among the Thugs" and its discussion of the preponderance of United fans who travel from London for every match. There's a lot of United fans not from Manchester.)

    Thanks for this
This is a great overview of the series. I've read only a wee bit of each one, but will now be looking to invest the time in reading them both in toto. And maybe have an awesomely satisfying month doing so, as you did.

I wonder, DiNovi, if you are right. I think you might be. But it also might be more interesting if the bouncer sticks around, or at least makes a reappearance.

    Great premiere
Agree with the "A" wholeheartedly. Fuck all the haters - shit was dope.

    Seconded!

    Oh man
This feature is so terrible for the prospect of me getting away from this machine.

It did inspire fantastic negative reviews
I still haven't seen "Revenge of the Fallen" but, crikies, it did inspire of the most fantastic reviews of a movie I've ever read.

I was a huge BSG fan who is also watching, and enjoying Caprica. Like Naismith above, though, I enjoyed seasons three and four a great deal. And sheeut, I even liked the ending.

    Love this
Thanks for a bit of insight into this genre. is it right to call it a genre though, when it is mostly about listening to less popular songs from a genre that was very popular? It does seem like more of a movement, in its "inherently retroness".

    Loving the Parker novels
I have only read two so far, but want to keep reading 'em. Problem is, the University of Chicago Press editions are not exactly inexpensive. Freakin' $14 for an afternoon's reading is a bit much. Still, they are great, and I will likely spend lots more money on them.

    Stupid haters
This movie was fookin' great. I give it an A-, or 4 out of 5, instead of an A or 5 out of 5, only because the suicide didn't entirely work. But it was seriously great stuff. I, though, also loved the ending, and the fact that numerous things were left unresolved. All that shit didn't matter - what

Sally Fifth, I'm not sure what drinking game you're playing, but it sounds amusing. Also, enough with the Drag Me to Hell disrespect. The shit was really good - and it was not trying to be Evil Dead 2, it was just a film unto itself. As noted, a really good one.

Agreed with this thread, and with Mr. Veland in particular.

Just to rebut some of the haters here
This was awesome. Not like the best freakin' film ever made (or ever made by Sam Raimi), but it is great. And the ending is quality. And it leaves room for a sequel!

Seriously? Taxes!!? Does the AV Club need to institute a tax advice column?

Is this the last post of MBS above? Lasties?

    No Shit
I guess I shoulda known that 25th Hour woulda been called the film of this decade (in the Best of Decades lists posted in the past few weeks). Not that I disagree, I just find it amusing that you guys had already figured it out back in aught-seven.
