I'm so looking forward to seeing that film, especially because it doesn't seem to be so much about running away from a cult as what it means to lose your support system.

I watched The Thing for the first time ever and then, made it a John Carpenter double feature with Escape from New York. I'd seen Escape from New York, but watching the two together was really fun and gave me a better appreciation of what makes a Carpenter film, er, Carpenteresque. I thought The Thing was outstanding,

"Watcher in the Woods" is a Disney movie, but also, has 1.) old Bette Davis, 2.) a blindfolded woman showing up in mirrors, chanting "Help me!" and 3.) camerawork that makes it seem like someone's following the characters through the woods at all times. This movie freaked the shit out of me when I first saw it and

As far as Bridesmaids go, I remember loving it except for the unexpected 180 of the Rose Byrne character from conniving bitch to woman w/ sad, lonely eyes. Would it have been so bad just to let her be the bitch and not redeem her?  I say it no.

David Carr really lets loose in this film, and it's a joy to watch. I think he was once described as "the Keith Richards of journalism."
