I mean, she literally calls the Taliban in the first episode.

Eagleton's treatment is pretty reflective of the appalling prevailing attitudes of the public and the poor state of mental health care in the early 1970s. I'll note that he remained a Senator until 1986 and that it's unclear that his depression EVER became a factor in his public life. Not that there weren't other…
Yeah, I think that might actually be my favorite song on the record. To me it's always sort of seemed like the joke is partly that the FJM character is a lot of the things he ascribes to her.
It's very, very easy to make.
I haven't seen it but I've received trustworthy reports from other Kozelek fans. Evidently he's hardly in it at all — there's some suspicion that he was in some cut scenes, because he's credited like an actor even though he apparently has no spoken lines. He's seen playing "Onward" (the Yes cover from Like Rats), and…
Jiffy Lube Live ("The Lube" as we were fond of calling it) is pretty bad
It's a shame that the best Bradbury adaptation to date in any medium seems to be that PBS version of All Summer in a Day, and even that has that kind of lousy revised ending. Truffaut's Fahrenheit is interesting but I don't know if I'd use the word "good." Am I forgetting something better?
Graffiato is really good, and is one of the few places where the Restaurant Week deal is actually worthwhile.
This is sort of impossible. I used to love Pearl Jam, to the point where I even went to back to back nights of the 2003 tour. I still like them a lot, but for one reason or another, I rarely listen anymore. In no order:
The A.V. Club
Low-key snark is more my style
Or, perhaps most obviously, Nixon's.
As a big fan of Alverson's apparently defunct musical projects Spokane and Drunk, it's interesting to see that the language used to describe his films is somewhat applicable to his music. To paraphrase, if you're into that sort of thing, it's great, but the audience of people who are into "that sort of thing" is…
I'm glad Rick Alverson is making interesting movies, but I wish he would make another Spokane album one day.
You guessed it: Frank Stallone
I've heard that David Bazan's management stopped sending them review copies because they consistently slammed his records for reasons that had very little to do with the music.
Isn't it sort of what made the 60s into the 70s, though, too?
I don't actually (quite) think this, but I could make a decent argument that Zuma is the best Neil Young & Crazy Horse album. And I say this as a Neil Young superfan.
Song for My Father for dayyyyyyys
Interracial violence motivated by race? No. It isn't.
I tried to read all of them, so I hope I'm not repeating anyone. Sorry if I am.
