This is def how CMJ in NYC used to run when I played in… 2010? 2011? At most we got $100, and I suspect it was substantially less, and we were on an official showcase bill with smallish but signed bands like Solid Gold and French Horn Rebellion at a good-sized venue. Oh and they did nothing to promote the show at all.
