Can someone point out some of this "good writing" that Pierce allegedly did on this site? Cause I don't remember it…

You joke, but Lithgow might be pretty awesome as The Riddler…

Yeah, unless it's like an Al Qaeda beheading video, I'm pretty sure that snuff films don't exist — and certainly aren't being shown in college classes.

At the risk of being labeled as some sort of old person or troll or Luddite or square or whatever, can I just say that I find about 99.9% of all tattoos that I see to be really, really ugly? I don't really understand why anyone (everyone) gets them or why people think they're so awesome.

White Ribbon is the only Haneke I've seen, but I certainly wouldn't call it "cinema of endurance". It was an intense film, but it wasn't graphic or at all unpleasant to watch.

I thought Michael Pena was the only person in this. (He's the only person listed under "Cast"? Is this a one-man film?)

The first time I saw an interview with Beck (it was on MTV; may have been on 120 Mins/may have been w/Thurston, not exactly sure), the interviewer asked him if Beck was his first name, last name or just a stage name. Beck simply removed his shoe, stared at it for a minute and whipped it at the camera.

I didn't say that they're taking the piss; I was mainly referring to the part of the definition that says "for comic effect". And, in fact, this kind of ties into my whole point. Satire is essentially taking the piss or ridiculing the subject; that's its whole point (ie showing how ridiculous the POV or subject is).

The trailer for Source Code made it look like Michael Bay decided to remake 12 Monkeys.

Parodists
I like both Frost and Pegg quite a bit, but it seems kind of odd and, well, douchey for them to act like they haven't engaged in "parody" (oh, the horror!) in any of their projects. I mean it's defined as "literary or musical work in which the style of an author or work is closely imitated for comic effect

Barely any commercials? Where the fuck do you live? I've been seeing ads for this on TV at least once a half hour for the last two weeks, and the subway is filled with posters for it.

I'd like to see a Julie Taymor-directed Nickelback/Creed show.

Duel
Amazing Stories

@ KeptSimple — I was pretty unhappy with the way the "suicide mission" played out in ME2 as well. I thought it was a really fascinating premise for a game, and I was sort of anticipating some cathartic emotional stuff during the endgame. However, being an RPG completist, I just waltzed through the ending, no one died,

All You Need Is Smiles
Your sweet pink mouth
Goes north, not south
And just SMILES!!!

I kind of wondered about his conviction that it had to be an R when I read that New Yorker piece about this a few weeks ago. It's been awhile since I've read any Lovecraft, but I don't remember any of the "horror" being very graphic or overt. It was more about psychological dread and fear of the unknown (which makes

@ Puke — I had no idea Sparks were American. I don't know them very well, always thought they were Brits.

@ Lightaugust — I get what you're saying and agree to a certain amount, but to be fair, Sonic Youth has been around for essentially the exact same time and has a much stronger catalog across their 16 albums. (And that's not even taking all the SYR stuff into account.)

I read that "Beady Eye music, mate" in the voice of SuperHans (from Peep Show) and it made me laugh.

@ Nephew — I actually switched off Family Guy after the first 5 minutes because I thought it was a rerun. I was sort of surprised to come here and see that that was a new ep.
