I can't agree with the first part, but yes, Gemma Arterton was a high point of Quantum.

Great column, but I wish it had mentioned the cold open, IMHO the best one ever in a Bond movie. It's a concise explanation of how Bond gains his 00 status with no flashy stunts, just an assassination and a fight scene filmed in beautiful black and white. It demonstrates that Craig's Bond is more brutal than his…
There was a lot of surprisingly randy humor on what was ostensibly a kid's show, and almost all of it was centered on the Flash: "Fastest man alive!" "Which might explain why you can't get a date."
This guy gets it.
I have to say, I thought this season of The Americans was something of a disappointment. The main characters are as compelling as ever, but the storyline just seemed fragmented and directionless. Yup, that sounds like the Millar we all know and…um, know.
The thing is, Snyder's not completely untalented. The opening montage was a genuinely inspired way to cram a lot of backstory into a few minutes and set the stage for the rest of the movie. Unfortunately, it was largely downhill from here.
That is indeed a great LH song.
NO COLESLAW!
Given his opinion on the relative merits of Kubrick's The Shining and the made-for-TV version from the '90s, I'm not sure King is the best judge of adaptations of his own work.
These are all the right opinions.
