Really wasn't meant to evoke the idea that dudes are, like, "burping" this shit out. Was more of a way to describe a steady, regular sort of rhythmic blurt emanating from these instruments. Colorful, not clueless (hopefully). I mean, the best playing makes me screw my face up like somebody crapped in the middle of my…
It's a better album, IMO. The last one was bland to me. If you're expecting more "Animal," this isn't it, but if you liked all of the other songs and think you'll dig that again with a few more ideas thrown in the pot…
Good news! I wrote about La Sera for this week's Playlisted. Keep your eyes peeled.

Me? I'll take the bait…
Agreed on the "alt-" thing. And that rabbit hole. I get it.
C.H.O.M.P.S. is right. There is indeed an entire network of folk folks who like to keep it pure. Three of these guys are more solidly No Depression or sadcore — a lot of spare, distorted electric guitar and bummer chord progressions. And Jim James (ugh, Yim Yames) incorporates psychedelia into his music, plus wicked…
Haha. Wow. Embarassing typo on my part, but I'm glad it spawned talk of a folk-noir spinoff genre. Looking to get this corrected (and that genre minted — maybe the 'fork can Pitch in).
This is a good chance to plug our new feature, PLAYLISTED, which indeed featured Fun. — http://www.avclub.com/artic…
Definitely some similar vibes, but Gibbard brought a lot of crisp brightness to that project (which I believe was actually recorded after this one began). Here, Jim James is responsible for the upbeat, but his sunshine always seems to come on blotter paper. But basically, if you liked that project (which was inspired…
I loooooooooove the Christabelle album, and really dig Where You Go also. This indeed travels farther away from both of those. The guy is a VERY interesting artist and I appreciate his restlessness. Better to take a chance than to repeat oneself.
@avclub-bd6db8346527b61b67be99c93d42c986:disqus, it warms my heart when smart people stand up for Odd Future — gives me hope that the value in these kids' work/existence will ultimately outshine the controversy and hype surrounding them. @avclub-f8f94146db556d7954afdefbae5acaa8:disqus, this was, more or less, The Year…
SWAG!
You're nice. Thanks.
Haha. Thanks Juanito (and ElDan below).
I wasn't a fan of the first record either. Loved the Michael song, and was bored by the rest. Pleasantly surprised.
Whoops. The logo went with the reviews of 2009 records published in December of 2009 and January of 2010. "Last year." "This year." It gets confusing.
Sunglasses got it right. Last year's "sorry we missed you"s were tagged with a fancy lil logo. Jude, I've been onto these boys for quite some time. I grew up with Wallpaper, the dude who remixed the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut track. Not bragging, just saying.
