Fourth Side -
If you haven't read the Mad Men essays on Tom & Lorenzo (http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/), go now.  Their discussions of "Mad Style"  examine the dynamics of the show based on its costume and set design.  It's film/tv criticism at its best.  You're in for a treat.

I also saw Gance's "Napoleon" at the Paramount in Oakland.  Definitely one of the best recent movie experiences.

I saw Firesign Theatre in the early 90's.  Awesome show.  It was not only funny but things like George Tirebiter's regressing to a child when he's chasing the ice cream truck or Ralph Spoilsport morphing into Molly Bloom were incredibly affecting.

I'm amazed they're putting out Norman Mailer's films.  Every time I think of a film that I'm sure is too obscure to be released commercially on dvd, I end up surprised.

Yeah, even though the movie is fairly forgettable, especially when compared to the novel, it is perfectly cast.  When reading the book I couldn't help but picture Nately as Garfunkel, Voight as Minderbinder, Welles as the general, etc.
