Was 1975 really considered a weak year? One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Dog Day Afternoon, Barry Lyndon, Jaws and Nashville is an unusually brilliant line up of nominations even for the 70s.

Man, Key and Peele are just the most unfunny people in the universe.

I'd agree with Hapless Flunky. It's a legacy thing. They generally like to leave 5 years after you've won an Oscar before they give you another one. She's already won for the Hurt Locker, so they don't wanna give her another one so soon. Affleck didn't get the nod cause they still associate him too much with Bennifer

If you like the books though, this review doesn't give you any reason to think you won't like the movie. It sounds like they've captured the character pretty well (obvious height issues notwithstanding). Tasha's saying the character sucks and that's the problem.

Like MayorVaughan and Ganondorf, I too was very angry that I saw things in a Batman movie that could not happen in real life. Where's the verisimilitude? Superhero movies are all about the verisimilitude!

See, you try to make it out like people who watch sad movies are sick freaks getting off on it, and you're a normal sensitive person who's not down with that. But given that you won't even try to see these other people's point of view or acknowledge that they might not be monsters for watching a film you don't like,

"Me and my fourth-form chums think it would be quite corking if you were to reinvest all your money back into the local hobbit concern."

Scarlett Johansson could have shot him and she'd have gotten acquitted.

Well that's why he said "wouldn't it be amazing if I wrote a best selling novel". He's not gonna say "wouldn't it be amazing if I wrote a novel that sold okay mostly on the back of my name, but honestly it wasn't that great." That wouldn't be amazing to Frank Ocean.

Billy Bob Thornton doing horrible things is inherently funny though. A John Goodman Bad Santa could work I guess, but his size and more imposing demeanour might make his yelling at children seem more threatening than hilariously pathetic. Billy Bob's like a kind of guy who starts a lot of fights but always loses, the

Pete Holmes is much more annoying than Maron, who is at least a naturally annoying human being and not someone doing a carefully crafted schtick of being unbearably annoying.

24 may have been ruthless about only bringing in characters when they were absolutely needed, but Homeland has shown itself time and time again to be unwilling to get rid of any character, no matter how awkward it is to fit them in.
