I'm burned out on all of this stuff as well. The last movie I was excited about that had a guy in a silly costume was Frank.
The first one was certainly better than the sum of its parts. I didn't really enjoy any of the single hero movies (Hulk was alright, parts of Iron Man that didn't involve predictable showdowns at the end) but Avengers 1 distilled everything that was positive about them all.
Complimentary boot up your ass courtesy of God's America!
This article led me to listen to Into the Unknown on youtube and that was the first thing I thought too!
From what I recall, the New America was planned to be a less cynical, more hopeful record. It didn't work (in the sense that their bread and butter is something else. Thankfully Bush 2 happened (he was good for re-energizing a lot of musical acts at least… although strangely not RATM), Brett came back and we got…
The first and last are probably the highlights for me. That album doesn't get much play at all. There is a girl on youtube (Emily Davis) that does a lot of Bad Religion covers who was able to improve on some of the New America material.
Agree. It has some great verbose tracks like Modern Day Catastrophists and Don't Pray on Me, straight forward ones like Lookin In and the Title. American Jesus is on there, a couple of departures in Man With a Mission and All Good Soldiers and Struck a Nerve (which may just be my favourite song of theirs overall but…
Long been a favourite of mine. I still listen to them when I want to get anything done. Hard to argue with much in this article. No Control is an absolute gem - less than 30 minutes, pure concentrated excellence. Says a lot for a band when you can put their 14th album (New Maps) right up there with their early output.…
I started with this guide: http://i.imgur.com/56qMlHR.jpg
Dance of the Headless Bourgeoisie has some fantastic songs on there too. Possibly start with Wrong and the Worldhood of the World … As Such for accessibility then Dance, 0+2=1 going backwards to their earliest stuff. Hard to go wrong really (more recent stuff like generic Shame, One and All Roads Lead to Ausfart are…
Sorry Owen. Not feeling the "serious". And what is Brosnan doing? Trying to ride Neeson's coattails and get his own "accented geriatric badass" (boomer wish fulfillment fantasy) off the ground?
It is a goddamn shame that music is so much about the look now. Back in the days before video you could have any number of ugly, fat guys make it on talent alone. Now you get doughy and you have to take shit from some 40 year old reality "star" in England using the old "I lost weight so anyone who doesn't is garbage"…
Wouldn't the comic Sinister Six pre-date that by like 40 years? It isn't like Sony doesn't have the money, time and lawyers to bury any challengers. They probably cancelled it because anything too closely associated with these new Spider-Man movies is going to get stink on it. Better to cut the losses and start over…
Watch a bit of these guys' channel. They're thin because half of the stuff is shit some burnout would microwave when they get home after a bender.
We need more stuff like Alton Brown without the corny shit he gets up to on Good Eats and (if you've ever had access to ancient Canadian TV) the Urban Peasant. People making great food with sensible ingredients, encouraging imagination and creativity and not talking to you like you're an idiot or their fucking "bro".
Vegan Black Metal Chef would work aside from the obvious lack of tie in to anything that MTV might promote in terms of music.
Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?
Sometimes you just want to read something easy. There is a YA book in most major genres and you aren't going to get a headache trying to puzzle out most of the plots. If you can get past some of the obvious Mary Sue/Wish Fulfillment tripe there can be some enjoyable experiences for any reader.
That won't be good for the baby.
