Whoa, a fucking "Blossom" reference on a Danzig article.

Wow, I figured I was gonna be the only one to point out an irritating detail in "Smart People." (The misspelling of "The Faerie Queene" was what killed me.) Strange how memorably hate-able that movie has proven for me.

I'm one of the few people on earth who wasn't totally wild about "Inglourious Basterds," though I absolutely adored the self-awareness when Christoph Waltz asks the French farmer for permission to switch to English, more or less just for hell of it.

I've heard incredibly similar stories from old writer buddies all the way through the '90s. Like, as in, lowly young journalist walks into a band's hotel room and in lieu of a handshake is asked "where can we get some coke?" Writer then walks right back out in search of the coke just to get his 30-minute interview.

YES. It's something that makes a lot more sense in the mythology that Campbell was studying (Achilles doesn't want to go fight the Trojan War at first, but there are a whole bunch of political and personal reasons why, and his arrogant reulcuctance to fight is actually a pretty major element of his character), but

Not sure why this came to mind, but I remember suffering through the insufferable "Smart People," with Ellen Page, Thomas Haden Church, etc, a few years ago. Dennis Quaid's protagonist is a college professor, and honestly half the film's dialogue consists of people telling him how amazingly smart he is. He can't

Which is more irritating: The idea that being a DJ is so easy ("all you do is play records!") that any fucking moron with access to some big speakers can do it while pretending to fiddle with knobs? Or the DJ-propagated counter-narrative that the act of DJing is a sacred, immensely technical art that only a select

That's one of the saddest thoughts I've had in a while, but it's totally true. Compared to the next generation, Paris' methods of vacuously chasing completely unearned fame now seem almost innocent and harmless.

Man, Sydney sounds like my kinda town.

Not to turn this into a referendum on Family Guy, but see, that the way you SHOULD do random, tangential non-sequitor humor. It's an utterly inexplicable, hilarious image, it flashes on the screen unobtrusively for half a second, then it's back to the plot. (See also, "but it's my lifelong dream to…") Family Guy would
