I haven't listened to Dane Cook since I was in high school about 8 years ago, but I really liked his first CD at the time. I dare not relisten to it though.

Speaking as someone who came to the podcast around the Garfield Monstrosity episode and hasn't listened to any of the old ones, I laugh at this podcast more than anything else I listen to (CBB and improv4humans among them).

Have you used Instacast? I've been using that for maybe six months now and while I like it much better than any of the Apple apps, it still leaves a lot to be desired. Too many button presses to get things to play, and it is kind of glitchy and clunky in general. How does Downcast compare?
