More Cliff love from this corner, though I'm sad that we have to wait til next year for my favorite moment of his that doesn't involve the word 'tawdry.'
Lewis just seems like the most likable detective in the squad room no matter what iteration of the cast we're in. You want to go out for a beer or five with him more than anything and that's an admirable quality to have when your fellow detectives are occasionally a bit hard to take.
Sorrry, but much as I love the ongoing Lincoln conspiracy thread the best moment in this episode is Crosetti and Lewis jumping out at Howard while singing "Casper the Friendly Ghost."
My plan was to follow along with this at the same pace as the reviews going up.
Another vote for Opposite Day here.
He's also a fucking badass, which just makes me want one even more.
I'm a bit disappointed that there's not a three-way ship for Toph-Aang-a
I don't think I was fully sold 'til "Jet" or maybe even "The Storm," but in hindsight I can see Kyoshi being the point where it became obvious that the writers were taking the whole worldbuilding concept far more seriously than I'd have expected for a kids' show.
True about Amy, but the fact that she was played by Mary Louise Parker negates her roadblocky nature. Not just saying that because MLP is my biggest celebrity crush, she does some great work with the character going forward, especially in season 4.
Really though, I do think that this is the weakest season from Sorkin's run. A lot of promising ideas and some great episodes but the execution just feels a bit off compared to previous years. Does that mean that I don't occasionally tear up just thinking about "Bartlett for America"? Fuck No.
Hey, that 'Donna's a Canadian' episode isn't all bad…at least the ladies getting boozy with the First Lady is occasionally hilarious ('First Lady wants me to come drink with her and I want to write a book some day' - probably a horrible paraphrase but still makes me laugh)
The Shield struck me more as a very detailed character study of a half dozen people in various walks of police life more than a "cop show." I mean, it is a cop show in the general sense but the focus is much more on the individual characters than the law enforcement aspects. That's probably why I prefer it to…
I generally assume that every crime on the show is toned down to some degree, especially in light of the commentary on the Documentary episode from S5 revealing that
It's still enjoyable, but if you compare it to The Wire at every turn it doesn't do it any favors.
The interrogation of Jerry Jempson
Probably the funniest moment of the episode. I think what I most appreciate about Homicide, at least this early in its run, was that it wasn't afraid to be humorous in spite of the morose subject matter.

I believe the proper term for what Geoffrey Arend is is 'riding the motorboat of the gods.'
I was intrigued enough by the pilot, but by the end of episode 6 I was a devotee. Not that it's especially rough going in the interim but the Logan stuff in that episode was when it went from 'Interesting show with a hell of a great lead character' to something more fully fleshed out.
@Insert Pun, it really does say a lot about his performance that his best line reading is only
