I've caught flak for this opinion in other corners of the internet, but Season 1 of Veronica Mars is up there with The Wire's 4th in terms of serialized TV drama. It's not perfect - Teddy Dunn is a definite weak link performance -wise even as he gets better towards season's end, and a few of the episodic plots are

THE BURNING! IT BURNS ME!

I forgot that the FIRE…sale thing was this early in the series. Although my favorite Tobias moment is still his audition from the pilot.

Rewatching:
Arrested Development
Veronica Mars
Homicide
West Wing
Buffy/Angel

Cuz I'm an uptight *bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep* BUSTER *bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep* YOU HORNY OLD SLUT!

Only familiar with the Lambert, and it's not depressing unless you read way too deeply into it.

Hey, say what you will about Poison, but "Unskinny Bop" is one of the better songs about fat girls ever written.

Agreed, I actually think the show got better when it stopped being about her dealing in the suburbs and started focusing on how she's a horrible, manipulative person who can't help but fuck up everything and everyone around her.

The Burlyman
I remember it being pretty heavily implied that Fink had just re-written his play with a wrestler as its protagonist. Though given how little we see/have read of either of them the point still stands.

I suppose your Tracy Jordan Fest is too highbrow to include Fat Bitch and Honky Grandma Be Trippin' then. Fair enough.

"He knew he was being filmed?"
"Yes…he wanted us to watch."

@haysoos: I blame the new credits.

Carnivale
Sports Night
The Shield (S1-S6)

Just got the full series box of Homicide this past Xmas. Blazed through the first four seasons in a month…and 3 months after that I'm still only halfway through S5. I don't think I've ever seen my enthusiasm for a show die so quickly.

@V for Vacation: Even better is his parting line after that fight…"I'd like to apologize to you gentlemen for referring to you all as homosexuals. You taught me a valuable lesson in life."

It really depends on what songs the piped-in radio at work has decided will be in high rotation for any given period of time, but recently my recurrent earworm has been Londonbeat's "I've Been Thinking About You". All it takes is 'SH-BA-BA' and there's not turning back.

I avoided this by muting my TV and cranking up my stereo while I played video games. Led to some really awesome moments of sychronicity between the two - Blur's "Battle" rearing up just as I was taking flight in one level of Super Mario 64 sticks with me to this day - and thus I have nothing to add…except this

It's the Callum Keith Rennie factor. Any other actor and the scene can't be read as anything but attempted bonding between the soon-to-be stepdad and the kid, but CKR just makes everything inherently creepy by his mere presence.

INXS "Disappear". My first music-related memory was that my parents allowed me to stay up late in order to see them play it on Letterman (?) ack when it first came out.

But his fiddle sounds so god damned cool and evil and shit! Even without the bassline it's the clear winner. Johnny's go nothing on that raspy tone with his straightforward hillbilly shit.
