I saw him on that tour too. By his request the crowd sang every word to "No Children", and it was awesome.

I came here to say the same thing. April 1995 was the first time I saw GBV live as well, and I'd love to re-live it.

Just added a Nov. 12 date in San Diego. Awesome.

They don't know what life's about.

Cool story, bro.

I recall buying the cassette of It's Beginning To And Back Again when it came out and being disappointed to find that though it was printed on the label, the song "In Vivo" was not actually on the tape. They let me return it for that reason, though in retrospect I should have kept it anyway. Great song/record/band.

My new hardcore band will be called Pazuzu's Petals.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

Sounds like that tree needs a goddamn death dedication.

Wait…wait! It can't be over!! Can't you write real funny about some other hugely popular/basically pointless topic for the next 7 months?! I'll even give you an easy one: college basketball. Please! Come back Teti!!

My second show ever, at the tender age of 14, was Fishbone with the Bonedaddys (an LA-based worldbeat-ska-dance band) at SDSU in 1988. I enjoyed a fun, peaceful set by the opening act but when Fishbone came out I was totally blown away, both by their insane antics onstage and by the pummeling I took as I was caught

If this movie doesn't have some XTC on the soundtrack I'm not seeing it.

Truly, that was super awesome. Always a great column about a subject I care fuck-all about, but read anyway for the solid larfs.

I honestly can't believe this account wasn't created much sooner. Well done.

Agreed, everyone brought their best lines to the party.

"Their, wolf. They're, castle."

Dunno, but isn't that same premise the basis for nearly the entire run of Mythbusters?

Finally, someone who gets it.

Uh, pretty sure that Drive Like Jehu should be up in the AC/DC slot. Only their second show in the last 20 years, no big deal or anything.

Notwithstanding my earlier post, I actually did like a few songs on it. For the most part, it sounds like the Pixies. But like you said, it definitely feels like they were just going through the motions so they could have something to play other than Debaser for the 1 millionth time.
