The episode was terrific cover-to-cover, but Melissa's schtick (in addition to killing in the room) really gave it an early-CDR ensemble feel, with Scott barely maintaining control.

I was thinking of Hader, Will Forte and Fred Armisen, but now that you mention it, I suppose most of them have been pretty good. And I totally blanked on Taran Killam and Paul Brittain, who were hilarious.

Agreed. I can rattle off grievances, but what it comes down to is that is just plain wasn't that funny.

I'm not going to claim that the seeds of Michael's turn weren't sewn in the original run - they certainly were. But this time around, the dark stuff was less fun and cheeky and more just plain sad.

MBMBaM's reviews have been largely positive for almost the entirety of its run. Only over the last few months have the reviews been bad, and frankly, I agree. The show just hasn't been that good - until this week.

On this sad day, let us also remember that he was terrific as stuntman criminal with a heart-of-gold Bear in the totally under-appreciated Get Shorty.
