It's funny how the rise of Bob Benson the ad man mirrors the rise in viewers' estimation of him (I assume). When he first appeared, he felt kinda inessential, even grating. And now, I gotta admit I love the conniving bastard.

Great catch. Of course, you'd notice something about the Hand….
Yeah, she's like, the only character on the show who engages in that!
You know what's killing me? Young Don Draper on Mad Men looks like a young Ross!
Would that mean that Captain Marvel — excuse me, Shazam (ugh) — has no real weakness aside from having the brain of a teenage boy?
Then why isn't he just making videos for Youtube or something? He doesn't have to be in a business where he has to compromise his art. Have you ever worked in television? Or any kind of corporate creative team? There are no pure artists in these environments.
He works in television. You seriously think he never compromises his art for the sake of popularity and profit?
Pete is still the true anti-Don. Evidence:
Don mailing in that budget request was a graceless power play, though also a slick move. Let's be real, Don was not that concerned about the budget. He latched onto it as something he could use to mess with Ted. That budget request play was a lowdown dirty thing for Don to do (it's a Pete Campbell play, for…
And the agency's going with his juice, not Ted's. And they're going to put Peggy on Sunkist… on Ted's suggestion, too! The guy's so lovestruck he didn't think about what he was doing, pushing his protege/crush onto his rival's account.
I so felt for Peggy there. I've worked in many creative teams, and that kind of thing happens a lot. It's awful but it's also very true to life.
Don was doing the right thing for the wrong reasons, mostly, and he was real dickish about it too. Goddammit I can't hate Don. He's reprehensible but it sure is fun to watch him be a dick.
I thought they were about to haze Sally in some way, which is what a lesser show would have done. Man, Mad Men is awesome.
Take to the Sea!
@underscorex:disqus Oh and can we add Maeby Funke in the mix?
How about a show where Glen and Manny from Modern Family team up for an adventure? Anyone? Anyone….
@avclub-126ad03316db7675164e3f0c8be270e9:disqus Sally has had a fairly screwed up childhood, but I don't see her becoming a sociopath. She's clearly a good person. She picked up a few things from her grandfather. If Sally s a bit manipulative, well… women and girls often have to be.
I think people just want to be the "cool guy" who decodes the the seasonal mystery.* (Not that there is one.) This is exacerbated by the fact that viewers correctly predicted the twist in Dexter season 6.
Thanks for that quote! I can make good use of it, as I actually know a real-life person named Jaxxon.
@avclub-adb4c903674d579c1a43dbf3ae93f077:disqus It's true that Rorschach is meant to be seen as pitiful/detestable and not someone to root for, but let's face it… even the original comics fanboys embraced him as someone to root for. A movie utterly faithful to the character of Rorschach wouldn't change that.
