The other Marvel films are fun but inessential. Even The Avengers (loved the character interaction scenes, didn't care for the action all that much). I liked Iron Man 3 best out of all of them, maybe you should just watch that one.

@avclub-072a15c6e8c7feb872965d04206db166:disqus Agreed, the ending of Watchmen is kinda ridiculous. The concept behind it (the villain's crazy scheme actually works) is the important bit, and that's still in the movie. Now I'm not saying that Watchmen is a good movie or a good adaptation (it's neither), but I did…
Watchmen would have made a great HBO series. Ah, I enjoyed Snyder's take on it anyway. There was good stuff done with Rorschach and Dr Manhattan. Of course, the rest of it was poorly conceived. Ozy as a laughably obvious villain from the get-go instead of a Tony Stark type. Nite Owl and Silk Spectre being depicted as…
I definitely think Tambor has been getting short shrift here. He may be in the weaker eps, but Tambor has the additional obstacle of having to play scenes against himself. I think the original run kept George and Oscar separate most of the time, but this season they are frequently together. Showing that it would be…
@avclub-acd0ce34e1e973cc95b5a4a588b9dc8c:disqus I think that she did want to kill him, but she's conflicted, worked up, and that affected her aim a bit.
Brienne finally arrives at King's Landing, ready for…
Watching the Red Wedding and Star Trek Into Darkness the same week got me thinking….
I think that's a bit of a stretch. But someone here brought up Jar-Jar Binks and now I can't get that out of my head!
That whole Qarth thing was a boondoggle. Plus Season 2 skimped on the brothel nudity.
The Qarth storyline was a bust. WHERE ARE MY DRAGONS? is just an exaggerated (and to my mind, affectionate) way of poking fun at that dumb misstep, which managed to waste a lot of time getting Dany all the way from Point A to… hello, here we are back at Point A again.
Dany is the best choice to sit on the throne, I agree. (I assume Bran is not in the running.) Sure, she's not perfect. She's kinda like Genghis Khan… with boobs (you're welcome for the image I put in your head). And also a bit like Jasmine from Angel season four.
I think Clarke is fine. She manages to make a problematic character someone to root for. But her storylines are dull and predictable, and she mostly interacts with people who serve and worship her. Not a lot of drama there,
Dany does not have an interesting relationship with anyone. It's the glaring weakness of her segments.
This is not the way I wanted to see Arya turn out.
I like Dany as a character, but she gets the most stereotypical fantasy storylines in this show. And she's surrounded by characters who worship her, so the most interesting things that happen in her segments are fantasy plot-related… not based on complex character interactions.
@avclub-610a161aaa74c014bad8d12919428d82:disqus Fantastic breakdown. (Just finished my watch-through, one week late for this.)
Phoebe is my favorite, too.
It's probably just coz Aniston is attractive that Rachel never bothered me much when I first watched Friends. But yes, Rachel is awful, and when I rewatched some eps two years ago, I found myself hating her more than anyone.
Alias is a show about a spy. A spy who, in the yet-to-be-covered season 3 meets an interloper in the form of Lauren Reed, wife of former flame Vaughn. Hard to pick an episode to cover on such a serialized show, but "Reunion" could work. (And Sark is in it!)
The Middleman: "The Obsolescent Cryogenic Meltdown"
The 1960s Middleman (played by Kevin Sorbo) is brought out of cryogenic stasis to help the current Middleman and Wendy Watson to defeat a super-villain. The '60s Middleman both fits in wonderfully and interlopes on the team dynamic uncomfortably.
