I think most people would have loved "Under the Blacklight" if it didn't have the Rilo Kiley name attached to it. It's not their sound, but the album does work. It may not be deep, but it's enjoyable and fun, and that's good by me. RK has a stellar discography, and that an album as good as UTB is considered their

Douglas Rushkoff comes from the Malcolm Gladwell school of pop philosophy, inventing all kinds of theories and generalizations based largely on anectodal evidence. But I can't deny that he's been hugely influential in my life. Cyberia got me to think of drugs and drug users in a more positive light than I once saw

Is he gonna team up with Dennis Rodman?

Really? Man, when it first started io9 had erudite comments, at least that's the way I remember it. Not sure why I stopped checking the site, probably some Gawker revamp.

SO much like for this!

It's kind of a stupid thing to posit as an English lit major. In English lit class. Best to save that sort of thing for a coffee shop conversation. Or acquire a few degrees and a professorship first!

The Shield's interrogation scenes are absolutely masterful. Homeland did a fantastic interrogation sequence not long ago, one of the best I've ever seen, but I would say it mostly belonged to Damian Lewis. The Shield's interrogation scenes are woven into the rhythms of the show. They manage the incredible feat of

Two Hitchcock movies, two Capote movies, two movies about an asteroid on collision course with Earth… I'm starting to think that Hollywood isn't very original.

@avclub-1e850f6bef0bc36ca1f64e95ff1cbd2e:disqus I'm thinking that deal worked out very nicely for Roger Zelazny!

@avclub-3b78eda1900e501fe1fdd2a4c4466694:disqus I liked Demise too, the unrepentant asshole. He was a funny asshole, though! My favorite character was Modular Man.

I'm gonna start reading it too, but I'm waiting til after April, when I won't be traveling so much. I'm also planning to start on A Clash of Kings very soon!

I am still reading Harlan Ellison's The Beast that Shouted Love at the Heart of the World. I've also started reading Great House by Nicole Krauss.

Are there Wild Cards book reviews on the AV Club yet? Please do them! I have a ridiculous fondness for those books, as awful as they could get at times.

I used to do the same thing! I realized it was a mistake when they got me convinced into jumping back in last season… well, at least Ray Stevenson was awesome….

There was a Quinn on One True Hill, too (ugh). And there's one on How I Met Your Mother (Becki Newton, yay!).

You know, I might actually watch that show. Sounds like a 99% dumber version of Terriers.

You, sir, are the grammar nazi we need, not the one we deserve.

I'm kinda pro-Christopher Cross, only because while "Sailing" is a real earworm… miraculously it's a pleasant earworm that doesn't make you want to gnash your teeth and rend your garments.

Sure, there are much worse songs, but I love his choice. It's not immediately obvious why it would be a Hatesong, and you have to analyze where it goes wrong. So you get a more in-depth examination rather than a lazy, "I hate this song coz it sucks, man!"

Shane is a stupid jackass with no apparent redeeming characteristics, so the fact that we sympathize with him is a testament to Goggin's prowess and charisma.
