Kim's story is ridiculously bad, except for the single moment when she get to "say goodbye" to Jack… but it's one flaw in a season I remember as being pretty good.

Homeland was trying to top its first season, I guess. But you know, I found S2 very entertaining. I don't really have a problem with it. Maybe Homeland will turn out to be like Carrie… it has sedate seasons and manic seasons!

Hell, no! When you watch the entire Jasmine arc in rapid succession, instead of an episode a week, it becomes one grandiose epic. Epic, I say!

I dunno… S6 has a lot of defenders, but I can't get over the fact that it's when I started to actively dislike Buffy. TV watching can get to be a real slog when you don't like the hero. (Okay, Breaking Bad gets a pass, I guess it's just that much better in its execution.)

Ah, Korean dramas. There are good ones, I'm sure, but there's also a lot of formulaic… you know, just read this:

Another vote for watching Fringe. I get that it's not for everybody, but it's my favorite show that's not Archer… there are better shows out there, but they don't have Fringe's crazy sci-fi world-building. It gets pretty amazing. And yeah, there will be some cheesiness, but I kinda like that stuff too (I mean

I am now looking forward to your posts every week, along with The Narrator Returns' Soderbergh reviews. I'm just gonna consume pop culture vicariously through your posts!

I'm reading Harlan Ellison's The Beast that Shouted Love at the Heart of the World. These days, young men seem to grow up reading Palahniuk. Me, I read Ellison growing up. He can be similarly schlocky, but Ellison is far more imaginative. And his prose fairly sings. Even when his satire falls flat, as in the case of

How come there hasn't been a big-screen Archie movie yet? Not that I'm clamoring for one, but it's a puzzling exclusion.

My vote is for a Veronica Mars/Terriers crossover series.

The Shield is one of my favorite shows, and I'm also a Gilmore Girls fan. Though I admit I'm not one to watch shows about teens that don't solve crimes or slay vampires, and Rory's relationship dramas never interested me.

I'm kinda broke right now… in my line of work, sometimes I gotta wait a while to get paid… so maybe you should come to me! Or maybe I'll visit SG in a few months. Do you host couchsurfers? :))

I finished Sandor Marai's Embers. It is exasperating in spots, but I don't share the views of the book's haters on Goodreads. It's like a cross between Kundera and an episode of Seinfeld, if Seinfeld were some kind of drama about nothing. (So… Mad Men. Heh.) I'm sure there's a lot lost in translation, but there's

Sorry to hear about the disappointing pomegranate experience. (Is that a… pulp culture experience? Nah…) I have fond memories of my first pomegranate. I was couchsurfing in San Diego. A Russian scientist couple let me stay in their place, I had my own room and everything. It was great! The scientist guy showed me how

Takeshi Kitano's Sonatine… or Hana-bi

Awesome post… we really should hang out! Well, I'm not too far from Singapore….

I really like Singapore, and I'm surprised at how many people seem to despise it. I can't figure it out…

Hey, I live in Southeast Asia. I do need to take a plane to get to Singapore. Damn, I was in Singapore and Malysia last year.

Magic potion for me. As a kid, I really wanted some. Still my favorite fictional drink.

You know, I loved this movie. Admittedly, I was a kid when I saw it, so that probably doesn't count for much.
