I saw the original first, and I do like it better… at least, I found it scarier. It has a low-budget video look and feel to it that helps draw you in. At times it's like you're watching a cheap TV documentary about a reporter investigating the paranormal. It doesn't have that Hollywood sheen to it. Its plot may be…
Dark Water (the one with Jennifer Connelly) is a good adaptation as well. I think it's better than the original, although I liked both. It does eschew the J-horror feel and is more of a drama and psychological thriller.
That ending was the orignal cop-out ending, for sure. The one thing they should not have kept in the film. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (the comics) had a much better answer to the Martian threat.

I don't remember my dreams anymore (apparently, it's not a good idea, healthwise, to try to recall your dreams). But I used to have fantastical, even epic dreams of all kinds.
I'm kinda surprised at seeing so much love for World's End… nobody seems to discuss it much, or maybe I've just missed all that. I love World's End and especially the Prez story. He's an amazing character, and Gaiman did something truly great with him: created a new American myth that embodies the history of 20th…
It should be the official AV Club sweater.
We're on the same page here. I agree that the LOST finale is better directed and more exciting. I'm just saying that the Fringe finale somehow affected me more. And I love it quite a bit more… it's not rational, but that's how it is.
It is SO bad… but you'll almost certainly get a great review out of it.
Thanks for this. I've read pretty much the whole thread and I'm amazed that some commenters at the end are hating on this episode. I guess there were some Windmarks watching… heh.
Even the whole Pattern thing was somewhat a subversion of LOST-type mysteries… they quickly move past all that stuff.
It was a very satisfying finale. Oh, the finale in my head was even more spectacular and crazy… but the one we actually got was good. The final shot was just about perfect.
I love that it also works as the show "chiding" the audience. Very self-aware, show!
Btw NFET has a great, really spot-on explanation for why Michael got off the train in some earlier thread here. You might find it interesting.
Nice theory, but I think that would be too late. By then, the Observers would already be too far along the path that led to the invasion (it was the emotion-free Observers who sent out the science team). The paradox doesn't really bother me. It still doesn't make sense that Peter would just pop back into existence,…
She quit the FBI to start working for Big Eddie.
I get your point. Plot reasons aside, it was more about fan service than storytelling. I agree, it's just that… I was so happy to see Bolivia again.
It was cool.
