If you are a fictional person bound to canonical Star Trek continuity, then you have no choice but to say that the Lens Flare Star Treks happen in the same continuity as the ponderous, didactic ones and therefore are not a reboot.

I know, judging a movie based on trailers is stupid, but there sure was a lot of stuff getting blowed up real good. I got more of a Transformers than a Star Trek vibe.

I think it's fair. That first letter is someone coming from a place of immense privilege who's inventing a reason to feel oppressed. Drawing parallels to ACTUAL fights for civil rights is tasteless at best.
