To be fair —- there are some people who voted because they are truly malicious. David Duke being the King of Assholes, but I have no respect for the truly horrible people who want to 'make America White again' or who are the ones who will make women wearing a Hijab feel unsafe.

I feel the same thing. I remember the 'Access Hollywood' clip and thinking no human could ever mean grabbing another's sex without thought to them was even possible. Let alone, accepting or dismissing as "that's just what some people think, don't worry about it."

At a traffic stop?? Jesus, that's horrible.

Tell that to The Constitution.

Yay! Bigotry only occurs when it's against what you believe in!!

When Leonard Cohen plagiarized Shel Silverstein and it was everything …

It took me 3 days to feel the pain. I didn't realize an election could legitimately put me in a state of mourning but here we are …

Fair point. But it's like saying everyone needs to hit the median, where if math tells us anything, that's impossible.

I can see it. But I struggle with why anyone in their right mind couldn't see the good the Obama's did for us so I get it. ;)

But doesn't that just tell you the level of desperation these people felt? Isn't this just Brexit?

I have to admit — I grew up rural, I live in a city now because that was the only place I could go to get a semi-decent job with a college degree.

But this is scary part — he never promised to make their lives better, he promised to take away what they thought was evil. No better than Hitler.

I'm an affluent white who moved to a city but is from an impoverished rural background. I take this all very, very seriously. My heart has been bleeding for awhile now.

So good, hate them. Fight them. Bomb them. Intolerate them. How is that going to help anything?

I wasn't trying to say gay, transgender or whomever are Klingons. I'm trying to understand why they voted the way they did without assuming they're full of hate and simple.

I agree. But I don't see a way forward without understanding where their thinking is —-

Since the election, I've doubted everything I know about newspapers and the media. I used to read three newspapers a day — now I look at what they say with such a grain of salt I'm not sure I will read them going forward.

I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that a voice cried out and demanded to be heard —- are we going to deny that? Are we going to say they're wrong because they don't agree with what my vote said?

Yes, but imagine the desperation —-?

Just be careful — division in this country does not end well.
