I had forgotten about that speech. Thank you.

There are parts of the "The Immigrant" that are absolutely compelling (shooting on Ellis island, Renner's scene as a magician performing at Ellis, Joaquin Phoenix) but the movie has many clunky tropes and stilted character movement, slightly hidden only because you have three of the best powerhouse actors playing them.
Maybe I'm just getting older but I've not been happy with any of the avclub's lists this year. Where is the joy, avclub? WHERE IS THE LAUGHTER? Not even Snowpiercer? Come on!
The pilot has more than a few cheesy moments but I think it gets going quick after that.
Raven is walking with a limp because of Murphy. I thought that played a lot into her leading the charge against him…
Ha, I think I doubted the show about nine times during the course of that episode. I didn't want Finn's back-story made suddenly noble. I didn't want Finn to live at the expense of everyone's else safety. I was completely convinced he was going to live and it was now just another CW show.
This happens a lot with Arrow — the villians become more interesting the longer they're around. You kind of wonder why they keep shelving them after 1 ep, especially people like Captain Boomerang who were great in the comics.
He's been my Hollywood crush for years now but you're right, he just hasn't seemed to get a role that works for him lately.
As much as I love the classroom scene, nothing beats the fish for me. It was the best suspense-builder I've seen in a lonnnng time.
I think the stuff about Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence receiving less back-end points than all male leads is pretty legitimate news. Also the Sony exec's being crazy racist about the President. Yeah there's a lot of filler but there was a lot of filler in other leaked documents…
I've been waiting for the Up and Atom! joke all season. I just, I need it to happen.
Has anyone noticed that most of this comment board is actually thoughtful commentary on the show? Does this ever happen at avclub? "The 100" really is magical.
Like the review said, the show rewards the fans so much with stuff like this. I just kept waiting for one of the Grounders to ask how she died - it was suspense on top of suspense (because only this show would make me worry Lincoln couldn't be saved and it would be war).
Mark Finn, modern sci-fi author.
I dunno. I think the show elevates itself more than its given credit for and it's always funny. I don't think anything will ever top the Jake/Amy date ep from Season 1 for me but I still love it and think it's setting the bar on ensemble (seriously, is any other show on tv this diverse not just in who they are but in…
If you have to force yourself to finish something then that should factor into whether it was good entertainment in the first place.
I've been reading his stuff on Vox. I miss Todd.
Magical momentum is a great way to put it. I want to still like it but then I remember what it was and I lose interest. Now for me it's Brooklyn 99 and it's magical ensemble work.
I loved how that movie was just all fetish. Dolan fetishizing Wong-Kar-Wai, the characters fetishizing their crush, all of it.
I keep reading articles on that site that I love and I look down to see who wrote them and it's Steven Hyden, the avclub guy (see this week's musical breakdown of 'Boogie Nights').
