That's why it's better when critics aren't failed artists, then they aren't just jealous pricks. The best critics aren't the ones who aspire to be artists, they're the ones who aspire to be critics.

The Room 2: The Cancer Strikes Back

@The Guilty Party
Is that a serious question?
By doing as you yourself did, and saingy they were literally mentally retarded (technically the fully pc way is to say they had mental retardation, because it is a condition and not what they are- but Im not close to that sensitive to be picky about things like that).

Definitely agree that Tool isn't nu-metal.  They didn't even hit the mainstream at the same time.  Even RATM, who sound closer to nu metal because of the whole rap metal thing, are a full five years or so ahead of nu metal.  RATM and Tool were clearly nu metals chief influences (I never payed attention to the

I used to have the same job (in the same era) and I genuinely find it shocking that you would say "they were literally retards."  I finally had to get over making a deal every time someone used that word as an insult, because they just don't know better, but you do, right?  You've known people with mental retardation

I'd say they are exactly as shitty as those bands you mentioned, as in fully shitty.

Kim Deal's filler is a million times better than anything by Blink 182, one of the most generic fake-rebelious but actually pandering bands ever..

No, he still thought the movie and fan pressure was going to get them another season.  It's so frustrating that he didn't take the chance to wrap it up, which is what the studio intended, but he did it because he really thought they could still get a 3rd season.

Rampage is the only movie of his I've seen and, I'm ashamed to admit I kinda liked it.  I randomly caught it on cable and had no idea it was him (who I've read all the stories about).  I'm sure it would have played different if I had known, but it was pretty intense and had me hooked the whole time.  And it wasn't

I agree with this completely.  When I was a kid I loved Nicholson's Joker.  Now, I think of it as bad acting.  I hate him in that movie, particularly in the first half when he's supposed to be a regular gangster.  But even once he's in the makeup, he is playing wacky Jack Nicholson way more than the Joker.

It's funny, the classifieds in the latest issue of Poets and Writers magazine had exactly one personal in it, from an incarcerated writer looking for pen pals, and the one specific thing he mentioned was how much he loves Shark Tank.  Any Shark Tank fans out there should really write this guy.

Legolas is in Mirkwood when Bilbo goes there right (I mean in the books, even though the character isn't pointed out)?  I think that's the only cameo that makes sense.

I loved funeral, but have found everything since pretty meh.  I'm constantly surprised to realize people still think of them as a GREAT band.

weed.

Which is funny because that's what the music industry has always been criticized for.  Using one winner to support hundreds of losers, not exactly a smart business strategy.  And I get that that's not the premise, but it's largely the reality.  How did music become a thing with no value?  Napster, LimeWire, Kazaa etc,

That was obviously a casual generalization, but that's not just the music industry.  That's the new start up culture.  Offer things for free that people used to pay money for.  Take in tons of investment money, most of which you and your friends take as bonuses.  Never manage to actually earn any money with your

They can have girlfriends too, or boyfriends if so inclined.  Im sure female musicians use all the same tricks on the way up (I know a few personally who certainly did), but they're a lot less likely to talk about it afterwards because society views it with different connotations.

The people behind spotify are getting rich as hell on investor capital.  That's the new economy.  Invent a product which removes money from an industry, thus gaining lots of  users, but never earning a profit and destroying an industry in the process, make yourself rich of the hundreds of millions investors give you

But the thing is, none of the artists are actually new or obscure.  All of those bands got attention under the traditional promotional system, and have received tons of press and attention.  Have you ever discovered a real unknown, unsigned band on Spotify?

I believe the solutions, in the early leaner years, are girlfriends with jobs and homes and food.  When you're still young and beautiful that's kind of the artist support network.  You will have no money at any time, but there will be girls who want to take care of you.  That's how everyone from Dylan to the Crue got
