Well, I have been the victim of a violent crime, or my mother was when she was murdered.  I didn't encounter any police who were there because they wanted to help people.  My point is that being a part of any system that gives you power over other people and puts you above the rules everyone else has to follow turns

I honestly think this is less and less true.  I used to adamantly believe that, and I used to insist on seeing everything in the theatre, but since the switch from film I really don't think many movies look that great in the theatre.  They often have a harsh unnatural appearance, and in close ups the actors and

It definitely comes down to the timing.  On my own, or with my wife, we go to a matinee and never have a bad experience.  But for all the really big comic/fantasy nerd pics (it used to be all of them but there are so many now I find myself waiting for dvd/Netflix for most of them and only going to the ones I

The problem is, being a cop in a society that allows you to think of yourself as better than everyone else and above the very laws you enforce (see the blue wall of silence, where even "good" cops cover up for the most heinous actions imaginable done by other cops) turns even good people into shit bags, so the

You'd like to think so.  Course there's the truth about Columbine, where the cops were on the scene in force for hours while the perpetrators were already dead inside (which admittedly the cops didn't know but- no more shooting could have been a sign) and victims were bleeding to death, and the cops put their

Oh god, I never would have admitted ths until your joke, but I read the first three books in jail.  I literally told my parents to buy me the fattest fantasy novels they could, and that's what I got.  I really loved them while I was in there (go figure), but left them behind for other people when I got out and never

I like how you mentioned those two things as a for instance, implying that those were two examples of the many things he talked about.  Those were the only two pop culture things he talked about (and he mentioned Orphan Black).  I don't want a play by play of events, nor am I looking for a cheerleader for all the

Really?  You have no interest in whether Todd actually think's those hyped thing look cool or not?  I do.  I think how it affects the city was interesting for one day, but to make that the focus of the whole series seems to be missing the point to me.  I want to know what Todd liked at comic-con.  I want to know what

I hate to say I agree with this.  I usually hate when people complain about the writing, but there has been a real dearth of any information on anything people who wish they could go to Comic-con would want to know about.  I haven't heard about anything that looks cool, or is fun, or that I should be excited to one

Not ony is this true, but even worse, he's the kind of dumb that thinks he's a genius, and everyone else alive just doesn't understand his amazing ideas.

I agree with everything you said.  Poorly written and structured, and worst of all, the book is blatantly pro the worst people involved.  Don't waste your time reading that terrible book.  Instead read the interesting story online somewhere.

I miss firsties!  I like them better when they're not capitalized, but it's been so long since I've seen one I may have slid right by without noticing, so it was a valid choice.

The Ultimate cut is definitely the best version of the film.  The animated BF is really good, although it doesn't really tie into the changed ending so it feels a little shoehorned in.

Agreed.

No, make the new mutants before x-force.  It was handled terribly, but the idea of a school of mutants that is forced by circumstance to become terrorist/freedom fighters would make an awesome movie.

Thank you so much for this.  That is the hardest I've ever laughed at a comments section.  If only more AVCers had been on to interact directly with those students.

Lee has actually been having tons of trouble getting financing for his movies, which led to this.  He even tried to make to his biggest mainstream hit (Inside Man) and couldn't get the money to do it.

In a row?

Even though I don't agree with your comment (I don't love him as much as a lot of people but come on… Malcolm x?  The 25th Hour?), I'm just so happy to see you back out of costume that I'm going to give you a like.

Not usually on whether they like it or not, but I often look to reviews to tell me enough about a movie for me to get a sense whether or not I would like it.  That's why it's a problem when a review completely distorts what a movie is.
