The Panel
Is the ONLY good thing the show has going for it. This review is backwards. Lets retitle it "Jerry Seinfeld presents: The View" and just have a rotating panel discuss random shit all week.
…
I think I love you.
In all seriousness…
I think there was a lot to be said about this episode. Jon has spent a fair chunk of time saying he doesn't think this show is as much like Tim and Eric: ASGJ as people say and this episode easily could have been. Not just the cameos, but the repetitive video clip, the loud blink, the staggered…
Next week…
We'll see them sum it up in a Haiku.
You could say he was there to make sliders.
I am rooting for Max and Christian. Christian probably deserves it more, but I can't help but want to see Max win just so we can get over this "He eats good food in real life, thats not fair" bullshit. Plenty of food critics couldn't cook at his level.
They haven't even started filming, to my knowledge.
I am waiting patiently for the day when they just straight up use "I'm sorry but you're just going to have to………. Go home." because I know there will be this fucked up look of "I THOUGHT YOU WERE TEASING ME" on the contestants face.
@ThatStat That is possibly the most backwards description of the judges I've ever seen.
Actually, the episodes were out of order because ABC was hoping it would pick up more steam that way. Episodes 2 and 3 (aired as 10 and 11) relied heavily on the plot of the pilot and the network thought more people would keep tuning in if it was more self contained.
June Raphael
Sershow's wife is Casey Wilson's longtime comedy partner. I'm hoping that means her and TJ Miller show up more often. TJ is always amazing. When I heard he was going to be a guest I was kind of hoping he'd end up being Max's boyfriend.
Holy crap. How did I never notice this?
He still thought Tara was the primary subject, which she was until very recently (after they interviewed Max, his last involvement with the project).
He was actually talking to Justin Timberlake.
Alters
I think the show may have ballooned up to more alters than they know what to do with. When it was just Buck, T, and Alice we'd often get a bit of all three every episode.
Canceled
I'm sad to see it go but this seems like a much better time than season one or two. Theres real breakthroughs being made with Tara which is basically the crux of the show.
I don't think the fact that Max never saw it was lazily explained away. The fact that no one has paid any attention to Marshall and his film while he tries to over-analyze the family has essentially been his entire plotline this season (save boyfriend troubles).
Opening
I quite enjoyed it. It was one note (intelligent political discourse in the context of stereotypical prisoners) but the one note was pretty funny and then the last line had me nearly in tears, even though I saw it coming a mile away.
