I've always imagined that most of Pawnee's fat citizens just stay cooped up at home ordering take in and watching tv. The Harvest festival is the only time when they come out and do something different.

I'm quite surprised quite a few people seemed to like it. I really liked the first two episodes of the season and I thought this was a huge step down (and probably one of the weakest episodes of the show). It had some nice character moments but there  was very little in terms of humor and most of it was the silly…

And this looks like yet another show that will be critically acclaimed but fall into low ratings territory. Tvbythenumbers reports that the show got 4.73 million viewers and a 2.4 in the 18-49 demo. That ranks it as third for the hour.

My short review - Yeah it's uneven and it's got some terrible musical choices (like really bad!) but overall it's a very assured and funny pilot.

But that's where the show clearly is different from say New Girl. New Girl's pilot wanted us to like Jess. The Mindy Project isn't afraid to show Mindy as a self obsessed, vain and sometimes terrible person. I think that itself makes it a very interesting show.

Except a show like Bewitched has to be judged as the product of its times. For the 60s having a woman be as in control like this was groundbreaking considering most women in sitcoms played second fiddle to their overbearing husbands.
