Agreed that the war on drugs is extremely mismanaged and often counter-productive, but I don't think jury nullification is going the help anything. That wont' change anything about the way the system works now, and you essentially give a free pass to people who deal destructive drugs like heroin. Besides the

@Colonel - Incognegro is a graphic novel about a black investigative reporter in the 1930s whose skin appears white, and goes into the deep South when his brother is accused of murder to clear his name. It's only occasionally funny (mostly dark humor - no pun intended), but it's still pretty good.

Um, at risk of being called literally fucking retarded myself, doesn't SNL set out to be funny, and entertain people? And usually fail miserably at that? And I'm not "hating" on the show - I think there's a lot of talent there and it occasionally produces some really funny stuff, but I don't think the reviews here

Well Then
Sounds very interesting, and I hadn't heard about this before. I though Incognegro was half-great, but the whole mystery angle was fairly unimpressive, so hopefully the plot surrounding the ideas and commentary are more robust in this. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Rowan.

@MRC - That's probably a bit fairer of a generalization, since I'd probably categorize myself as a "classic rock fan" more than a hardcore "Bowie fan." Still, I'd argue that "Five Years" is just as awesome as anything from the Berlin era, but to each his own.

They're both available as bonus tracks on iTunes, but I'm guessing (based on the Complex interview linked in the review) that for whatever reason, the label didn't think those belonged on the album. Lupe basically says in the interview that there were a bunch of songs he recorded that he was told wouldn't make it to

Cool, thanks all!

@Dirtbike - I was also less than impressed by the Temple doc, though I wouldn't call it terrible. Disappointing maybe works best - there was some good footage, and some interesting tidbits, but also a lot of extraneous crap surrounding it.

I'm not gonna go quite as far as HellToupee, but I definitely personally prefer Ziggy Stardust to the Berlin albums - I recognize their greatness, but Stardust is just fucking wall to wall awesome.

I just listened to most of it, and I have to agree with you - this is pretty dire. The production is just fucking awful; they were obviously trying to go for a more pop/mainstream sound, but it's just terrible. And lyrically, it feels like Lupe just phones it in for 90% and then tries too hard for the other 10%, and

Inevitable Disappointment
Reading about the path this album took kinda made it clear this was not going to be as awesome as The Cool, but it still sucks to hear it. He basically didn't want to make the album, and that's bound to come through in the music. Oh well. At least "Shining Down" (which I think only made it

Extremely Important Dilemma
I've been curious about the film version ever since I found it existed, but I haven't gotten around to reading the book yet. Anyone have any recommendations regarding which to start with?

Yeah, all you need to do is just pick up an external hard drive and you can hold a huge amount.

@Afghamistam *timidly raises hand* I watched two seasons of Damages…

Hey, I just started watching Spartacus on Netflix! I don't know if I'd call it "good" yet (I'm like seven episodes in), but it's definitely addictive, and I hear it gets better?

1) There are a number of sites that regularly post ratings info for shows, including: TV By the Numbers, Deadline, Hitfix
2) The Nielsen ratings use statistical sampling to come up with a representative total, but the numbers that are reported are the bigger numbers (though I'm not sure exactly what you're saying).

Letters to Father Jacob could be pretty kinky, too.

Haha, it was more of a rhetorical sigh, but that anecdote was pretty good, Avatar. I've seen my fair share of old-people bait, given that my mom is an avid fan of The Closer and its ilk - though to her credit, she does watch Fringe, Community, and Chuck as well.

Sexual Themes
Is it just me or is this list slightly more raunchy/entendre-filled than usual? You can't tell me that half of these aren't porn titles:
