X3 sucked mainly cause I went in thinking we were gonna get some Dark Phoenix ownage, and instead Ratner just took a bunch of random plots from different X-Men stories, packaged them together in an incoherent mess, and then decided that to salvage it all, he'd just put as many characters as possible up on the screen.

The Pylea episodes were kind of a fun diversion, with some good parts (Fred, the dance of joy), and they gave Lorne a chance to shine. But it just seemed like such an odd way to end the season of such a serious, dark show.

Johnny Bravo was alright, but Dexter's Lab was top-notch. And yes, commenter, for a little while the only thing I knew how to say in French was "cheese omelet" thanks to that show.

Whatever, kids week fucking sucks for everyone watching. Cut the malarkey, Trebek!

I'm willing to fork over my savings towards the immediate production of "Low-Hanging Fruit." Or "Aim Away From Face." Or really any of those.

Agent Broyles, I miss you. When are you coming back to my TV, you silver-tongued asshole?

Haha. Annals is almost a dirty word.

If they catch people by seeing who has shifty eyes, doesn't that mean that the inevitable twist will be that Forest Whitaker is a serial killer? Or does his crazy eye just give him special insight into other crazy-eyed people?

Well I suppose I was biased too since I was there to see Frightened Rabbit, so maybe I'll give Maps and Atlases another shot. I agree that they played really well, I just didn't hear anything that sounded as good as The Dodos, to steal your example, but I'll see if they start to grow on me.

From what I've heard off of this, I'd say 'Champ' is pretty great. I can see them being a blast live, too.

Ya done did it again!

Meh
Saw them open for Frightened Rabbit. Interesting sound, but I just can't imagine ever really wanting to put on one of their songs. They all kinda just flow along without grabbing you.

I had no idea this was coming out, and what a lovely surprise it is. 'Apologies to the Queen Mary' is one of my favorite albums, and both Sunset Rubdown and Handsome Furs have had pretty awesome stuff too, so I'll have to try to scrounge up some money for this.

Blame it on the coke. Or something. I really tried to like The American President, cause I'm a big West Wing fan, but man that was just boring as hell. And the writing was dry and completely devoid of wit. At least A Few Good Men had a few ok parts.

Shit that's where I know him from! Thanks, Ben Folds Fan! I really enjoy 1776 as well, mainly for the political maneuverings - the music is just ok. I think TCM usually shows it on July 4th, so I've made a two year tradition of watching it then which I hope to continue this year.

"like most mythology episdoes, it's undermined when placed in the larger context of the series"

But how could Spike's origin story be upsetting when it's so awesome? It's absolutely perfect - Spike as a bad English Romantic poet! It fits unbelievably well.

Yeah, that theme song is probably the hottest shit of the past 20 years. All other attempts at animated X-Men just couldn't live up to the awesomeness of the first minute of the 90s one.

I just wanted to say that the animated X-Men fucking rocked, and yes it was nearly unbearable to try to watch it on tv when it aired. I have a ton of VHS recordings of random ass episodes of the series that jump around so much, but it's still good fucking shit.

Great ideas, but the sad thing is that I would have no problem believing SyFy made a giant robot dinosaur 20,000 leagues under the sea movie. Or maybe that's not sad at all. Would have to be better than Dinocroc vs. Superalligator.
