They're "authentic" in the sense that they are an actual band. That makes actual music. That is available for purchase in a variety of places. They are quite authentic, if you ask me (and I choose to ignore all other possible meanings except the literal one).

@JVS - Seconded on 'The Incredibles', that movie is filled with great little touches like that. But my favorite, completely tangentially, is Hoffman's crazy monologue in 'Tootsie' where his character in the show reveals she's a he. Wow that was awkwardly phrased. But the scene is great.
