Understatement
Would you really say this is a break from the style of Lost In Translation? It's definitely even more stripped down, and it also opts out of the beautiful imagery and ethereal music of the other film, but they're both sparsely eventful, sombre movies with similar subjects. I saw this as an overt

Greenwood
Don't forget that Greenwood also re-used his own music from Bodysong for There Will Be Blood. Still should have been nominated, though.

Every time I glance past this story
…I keep thinking it says, "Feral judge rules…" and it makes me imagine a really embarrassed and awkward courtroom.

I'll approach with caution
Good British drama's hard to come by these days. I know, I saw Luthor. Still, if The Hour opens with West killing his family and hiding the gun in a dog then I'll probably keep watching.

Owen Wilson hasn't located him yet.

If you liked that approach to things, you might want to check out any stuff post-2002. They had a big turnaround into a tight pop act (which is kind of what they always thought they were. They not unlike the Ramones in their ambition to make power pop that couldn't help but be slightly low-fi).

Fold Your Hands was my first B&S album, as I tried to second-guess the hype when I bought it, so I thought of it very highly back then. When I saw the criticism it took, I took a step back from it, and eventually saw that, dammit, it's still a very good album. beyond The Sunrise I always skipped, but at least a

Aside from the 1000 copies of Tigermilk that were originally issued, though, the first album wasn't available for a number of years and was largely unheard, so people often get away with calling IYFS their introduction to the world.

Weird Al's doing his first ever British shows soon, ad I'll miss it because my friends bought me tickets to see Belle & Sebastian for my birthday, despite my seeing Belle & Sebastian another two times in the following week. I'll have a good time, but I won't see Weird Al, so it feels strange.

LOST FINALE SPOILERS!!

DTH, that's interesting, what you say about Thunderbolt Kid. When the book came out, I saw him on The South Bank Show talking about his childhood, and the show made it sound like he felt the era was a tip-top utopia across the country and he was unaware that there were any problems of note going on. That really put

Comparing Muse to Radiohead was understandable on the first album, but that was 11 years ago, and now it's very lazy. They're more like a cross between Queen, Suede and Metallica. Which is fine by me.

The Hole is out in some places, and it's just the sort of thing you'd hope he'd still get a chance to do. It's not vintage, but it's nice and old fashioned, with some really great, creepy ideas and sequences, and it's suitable for all ages.

PS, if anyone has spare tickets for Meat Load's upcoming tour I would love to come along to that.

Fincher and Shyamalan
Both had movies released with shock horror twists released on the same day in the UK. Those crazy old days before hundred screen megaplexes, I had to run across town to find a Fight Club showing that wasn't sold out. Missed the credits and didn't even recognise Meat Load until halfway through

"Garth said he wanted me in this thing because he didn't want someone putting on an act, he wanted the truth. So this is me: putting on the truth."

"I'm behind him 110%, and you know what that means? That means I could backtrack 10% and still be completely behind him."

I went to the village Baisha in China a few years ago, and was accosted by a herbal medicine doctor who had been featured in Palin's Himalaya series, which I hadn't seen at the time. He told me about his world-famous herbs and and showed me lots of news clippings and Palin-related things and was very entertaining,

If I could have a T-bone cologne then maybe people would finally call me T-bone, like I deserve.
