Invictus
So Morgan Freeman isn't even gonna try to mimic Mandela's voice? I know Freeman's voice is is his strongest suit (followed closely by those big doleful eyes of his) but it might be kinda wierd to hear him speak with an American accent when all around him have South African accents. Dare I say it, but this

Great episode
I thought this episode encapsulated everything that makes The Office so great. It had everything; it showed both the good and the bad side of Michael, Dwight and Andy were in top form, there were some brilliantly cringe-inducing moments and, best of all almost, there was an emotional payoff. Cheesy it

crash
glad to see your reviewer sees Crash for what it is: a didactic, contrived car-crash of a movie.

he also gets extra brownie points for being in The Wire.

wu-tang v. dre and co.
wu-tang are just so much cooler than dre, snoop and all the rest. Ice Cube was pretty in your face back in the day, which I digged, but the stuff the wu come out with is just out of this world.

Can't wait for The Invention of Lying
I knew Gervais wouldn't be the one to deliver a homily about the importance of telling the truth and the pernicious influence lying has (a la Liar Liar).

I hated Juno and therefore I'm glad to see that Diablo Cody's second screenplay is getting getting bad early press. Maybe now people will finally see the woods through the trees and see Juno for the abhorrent, over-hyped tosh that it is. This might sound petty of me but no film has provoked such ire in me than Juno.

Does Bunk from The Wire count?

To Keith Phipps:
Hate to be the one to point this out to you but it's spelt 'Notting Hill'.

From one pervert to another…
I for one would like to see the AV Club do a top 10 list of the Least Sexy Scenes to grace the cinema. Unsexy sex scenes can be hilarious.

I'm not so sold on him…
Does anyone else find him just a bit annoying, especially in The Hangover? The Hangover got pretty steady laughs the whole way through the film with the exception of the scenes featuring "that Asian guy".

Your expectations must have been REALLY low…
…cuz I played the demo several months back and what I sampled was mediocre at best. The hand-to-hand combat looked cool alright but the actual gameplay experience often amounted to simply pressing a button when prompted to on-screen, i.e. they're just Quick Time Events.

What will it be called?
Maybe in France it'll be entitled Ali-1?

Great article…
… Understandably you fail to disguise your contempt for such an insidious religion but even those indifferent to, or ignorant of, the Church of Scientology could not help but be touched by Travolta's predicament. I usually find it hard to feel any sort of sympathy for celebs—not least ones who own their

this film was sooo last year…
…but better late than never.

It's all about the atmosphere…
The plot is more a series of vignettes and the character development is almost nonexistent but I still found the film fascinating because of the tense atmosphere invested in most of the scenes. Plus the bank heists and shootouts were predictably exhilarating.

My fingers are still crossed…
QT's recent run of form — not to mention the willfully eccentric title — hasn't inspired me with confidence but I'm still hoping this will mark a modest return to form. The consensus on Deathproof was that it was more a "throwaway exploitation flick" and not the "brilliant avant-garde

Inglourious Basterds
You're speaking with tongue in cheek when you say Tarinto is the best writer-director in the the history of cinema. . . right? I for one have a hunch that Inglourious Basterds will be another immature, self-indulgent vanity project. I hope I'm wrong though, his first three movies were (and still

Re Jack Nicholson
It seemed to me that you guys have written off Nicholson. I reckon he's still got at least one big performance in him. I also think About Schmidt was one of the most surprising, not to mention affecting, performances I've seen; after that no one could pigeonhole him as "The Deranged Guy".

it's been 10 years since my last confession…
As a 19 year-old male whose favourite director is Michael Mann I'm not usually one for crying during a film. However, I'll happily admit that 'Etre et Avoir', that little documentary about a school in a remote part of France, almost had me in tears when the teacher waves
