Final sequence of "Mizumono" for sure. Goddamn, what a sequence that was.

I know the Allison Pill scene from Snowpiercer gets most of the attention, and rightfully so, but man, I fucking love every single sequence of that movie. It just gets better and better as you watch, and the fight with the car full of axe-wielding men near the beginning was glorious (loved the night vision part, too).
McConaughey was amazing in that scene. I'm also a big fan of the docking scene later on.
Yeah, that final scene of Whiplash is definitely my favorite of the year. The perfect culmination to a pretty damn flawless movie, and it's a masterful 10-15 minutes of editing, acting, and directing. The sheer intensity of it all rivals any movie I've seen.

DEADWOOD "The Trial of Jack McCall" Review (1x05)
“Saint Paul tells us: By one’s spirit are we all baptized in the one body…For the body is not one member but many…He says that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care, one to another, and where the one member suffer, all the…
The trailer is fantastic, that's for sure. If the tension in the movie is anywhere close to the tension in the trailer, it'll be good. I'm planning on seeing it, although it probably comes after (in terms of interest level) several other movies that are going to be released around then.

Yeah, Jake Gyllenhaal! I was afraid he wouldn't get nominated, but he absolutely deserves it (and is the winner in my book). Yay, Wes Anderson! If I had my pick, Marion Cotillard would be up there for Best Actress as well.
*Gone Girl was not nominated for Best Picture. "The Imitation Game" was.
Good point. I also think Anna Chlumsky is a national treasure.
I would've been fine with a pile of trash winning over Jim Parsons, but yes, Andrew Daly is entirely deserving of the award.
And now, my favorite performances:
All I'm hoping now for Fargo is that Nick Offerman does end up joining. I do not want to get my hopes up, though, like I did for Jessica Chastain and True Detective.
Yeah, I thought there were only, like, 5 writers left at the AV Club.
I agree. I think Fargo was beautifully put together, with fantastic acting and several truly awesome episodes ("Buridan's Ass" and "A Fox, A Rabbit, And A Cabbage" come to mind). However, I just never really engaged with the story, and it didn't stick with me like TD did. I understand why people would love it, but it…

I will add Person of Interest to that list.
An Interview with Kurt Sutter
So happy to see Rectify that high, and personally, that and Shameless were both probably top 10 this year. Truly wonderful season four for Shameless with some of the best performances on TV, and always entertaining to watch. Rectify is just gorgeous in every way.
