It was pretty lumberjack-esque.

The Sons of Anarchy finale's final scene is so laughingly terrible that only Kurt Sutter could've pulled that shit off. It's stupid, and it's one of the worst pieces of filmmaking I've seen in a long time. Sutter's probably patting himself on the back for all that **SYMBOLISM** as well.

The funniest part of the episode was definitely Nick and Winston trying to get everyone not to fly ("The weed will probably cancel out the effects of the alcohol"). I loved Nick coming to the 50/50 conclusion, and Winston thinking about it a bit for agreeing.

YEAH, MAX!!

Oh man, I miss Raising Hope. I obviously didn't get the reference when it aired, but I just went and watched that scene; it was awesome.

DEADWOOD "Reconnoitering the Rim" Review (1x03)
“See, I’m the simple type cocksucker that when he sees lightning, readies for thunder. And takes the thunder if it comes from part of the same fuckin’ storm.”

I thought The Leftovers was fantastic, but #1 of the year is definitely questionable. Also, knowing that most of these lists will not include POI is very sad.

That's fair! You're right, it's more effective knowing the rest of the movie, although it's a fantastic sequence in and of itself. I just know that there hasn't been another scene this year that kept me as riveted as that one did. It was glorious.

Yeah, I probably won't even get it done until February, considering most of the movies I want to see at the end of December (Selma, A Most Violent Year, Mr. Turner, American Sniper, Inherent Vice, etc.) are limited releases that expand throughout January. I guess I understand the year end lists for TV, since they're

Final scene of Whiplash.

Nightcrawler was so good, and Jake Gyllenhaal's performance is my favorite of the year so far alongside JK Simmons. I agree about it probably not getting much, though.

Fair enough, although I did think 12 Years was excellent. I think I have the same opinion of McConaughey's performance as you do of Ejiofor's: good performance, but nothing spectacular, and definitely not the best performance of the year.

It is also very sad that Wes Anderson won't be nominated for The Grand Budapest Hotel. I also have a fondness for what Damien Chazelle did with Whiplash (my personal best picture winner), although I'm sure the Academy has no idea who he is.

My personal pick for last year was Ejiofor, but I agree: Leo deserved it as well, and his Django performance the year before was amazing.

Both of them winning in the same year would be fantastic, just like both in the same movie (make that happen!) would be. I just wish the voters were less "Okay, here's yours" and more "This is a wonderful performance that is deserving of an Oscar", but if that were the case, they both would've won already. Speaking

Along with Inherent Vice, A Most Violent Year is probably my most anticipated upcoming movie, not just for Chastain, but also for Oscar Isaac and JC Chandor. They're both great.
