Yeah, the first thing I saw her in was 24, which wasn't exactly the best role to show off her talents in. Also, I know she's in Longmire now, which I have no interest in.

"But what's great about Starbuck is that, even as she's characterized by her relationships with the three Adama men, she's never defined by them, and then even as she's going through this emotional turmoil with all of them, she's still able to kick some serious ass."

Battlestar Galactica—"Act of Contrition"/"You Can't Go Home Again" (1x04/1x05)
Kara Thrace, for all her cigar-smoking, wise-cracking, badass ways, is still human. These episodes remind us of that fact, and "Act of Contrition" in particular is a heart-wrenching study of the show's most fascinating character. Here, she's

I just started season 5 last night. I was going to wait for TV Club Classic coverage of season 4 to start and all, but based on that first episode alone and what it set up, I can already tell it's going to be a hell of a season (and for that matter, rest of the series). I'll probably be speeding things up a bit now.

Congrats! You're a fantastic writer and one of the best commenters around here, so I look forward to reading more of your work. If the AV Club ever decides to go back and cover Blood and Sand (and they must. They really must.), you should be their first choice to do it. Use your influence to get people to watch

Speaking of those last 15 minutes, how amazing was the set-up for the rest of the season? You have Will—confident and with a new haircut—walking into the office, ready for what's to come; he knows what he's up against, and he's certain he can take down Hannibal Lecter. The beauty of this situation is that each person

Maybe she'll just head over to a Niagara Falls gift shop.

Season finale

I'm happy Alana's still on the show. I think she's always been a fascinating character that's been underdeveloped, and I'm still willing to believe that the writers have something else in store for her, other than Hannibal food. Also, I would not be in favor of losing Caroline Dhavernas and her talents.

Chlumsky definitely had showier moments, but my favorite one might've been when she was being fitted for the prosthetic arm. It was a quietly devastating scene, and all the pain and sacrifice of the past was conveyed brilliantly. It's hard not to look at her at first and see "Amy from Veep!", but Chlumsky's been able

The beginning of this episode featured some pretty amazing visuals, and although I'm not normally fond of shaky cam, it worked there. They really captured the confusion and the carnage of the situation, and the shot of Winters parachuting through the explosions, down to the French countryside below, is one of my

She was good in Friday Night Lights.

Oh, ok. And yes.

Also, I like how Boyd has Raylan as a contact in his phone. That way, they can call each other at night and exchange witty banter with sexual undertones.

Since much of this season has felt a bit like Raylan wandering around, it's nice to see Timothy Olyphant get to show off his acting chops in that interrogation scene. The character's being a Marshal, but he's also being vulnerable in a way that, expectedly, ties into his relationship with Arlo (and Kendal, this

This finale really got me excited for the final season. The show's circling back around to the same conflict from season 1, but in a different context. Sure, Ava's storyline dragged this season (and if they had killed her, I'd have been pissed), but at least we're heading into season 6 with a changed character at the

Since when was being gay a condition for lusting after Tim Gutterson?

That whole sequence was fantastic. We got some fantastic dialogue, a gunfight, and the Boyd-Rachel-Tim scene at the end of it. I loved Tim's comment about people like Boyd being the only ones who need to shoot while in cuffs.

"I appreciate your concern; this may as well be a slow night in the champagne room for how comfortably erect I'm going to be watching your bitch ass squirm about."
