I honestly love the weather here—the thought of a warm, balmy climate makes me gag.

Well, Beaver Countian, but Pittsburgher by close association.

We always count Gung Ho.

Bale did some of the prep work for this film at a mill that's three miles from my house. (Which is also pretty close to where some of The Road was shot.)

I feel like a boring old guy, because I mainly just listen to Fresh Air and the NY Times Book Review. But there are others worth checking out that might not be on people's radar:

Will, thanks for bring Adam Schmitt to my attention. I checked out his three albums and have been listening to them non-stop since this piece was published. I love discovering power pop acts that I somehow missed the first time around. I discovered Tommy Keene about four months ago, and now this. Awesome.

Yes, sort of. I have the new FFG set plus some of the monthly expansions. I'd played casually against a few friends and (sad face) myself. It's honestly one of the best, most well-designed games I've ever played. I just haven't worked up the gumption to try to play against creepy strangers at Netrunner events.

Oh yeah. Richard Lloyd might be my favorite guitarist. I discovered him through Matthew Sweet and then branched out. I never got into his solo material too much, though.

Did *anyone* see that coming? A week later and I'm still laughing about it.

Reading this makes me want to play Netrunner.

I've been slowly working my way through the first season and I love it. I know, comparing it to the Wire is silly (and inevitable), but while I think Simon's better-loved show is objectively better, Treme is settling down in my brain and heart in a way that The Wire only sorta did. Maybe it's because I'm a musician

Agreed. I think it was one of the show's best episodes.

There's a little part of me that hopes Avery, operating unchecked in the studio, ends up making something overproduced and ridiculous. Just like what Wycliff Jean from last season was shooting for.

I loved their song, but I agree that it sounded FINE without Zoe.

Seriously. This movie is so good.

Whoa, I did not know Joel had any solo work. I'm going to check this out right now. Thanks!

Italian Platinum is my favorite Silkworm album. I always thought the cover art was a playful jab at Bedhead's album art (considering that Matt Kadane plays keyboards on the album helps with that theory, I guess).

That's my favorite, right there.

I liked Silkworm a lot, but I generally dig Bottomless Pit a lot more. I think it's partially because Tim is playing a baritone guitar now.

Not sure why, but I liked this episode a lot more than everyone else. Yes, it does feel like the characters (mostly) took a step back, but they did so in a way that's much more digestible than it would have been in season one.
