Besides being broadly similar (John Tesh pitches NBA on NBC theme songs), they are nothing alike.  The music and the jokes are completely different.  Sure, they're wearing similar costumes because that's how John Tesh dresses and one song is the same since that was the REAL NBA on NBC theme during the 90's.

There's nothing irrational about loving Bill Hader, he's just the best.  He's not a movie star, or a comedian, he's just a talented comedic actor and I think those make the best SNL cast member.

They're all just "decent."  A given season my have more or fewer higher highs and/or lower lows, but at the end even the best episodes and season have their duds.  Despite that, every episode someone somewhere rages about about SNL sucking "now" like it was ever anything other than hit and miss.

I totally forgot about the monologue.  That was some outside the box monologue thinking if you ask me.  No stand up, no music, no audience ringers, just VV seemingly improvising his way through surprise awkward interactions with specific audience members.

Except for, like, two weak skits, the rest of the show was B+ leaning toward A- material.  Yeah, short term attention span theater went no where and the weird high school dance skit wasn't that funny, but I though everything else was funny and relatively original.

Lets not tell anyone then.

I think you're trivializing "love" as a reason.  But yeah, you're pretty much right, I just don't think there's as big a difference between what Book Robb and Show Robb did as you do.  They both broke their oaths, one for love and the other honor.

So basically, you're saying Jeyne raped him (as per the modern idea that you can't consent when altered) which totally makes sense if you hold to the belief that it was all a Lannister plot from the very beginning - that when Robb began to wreak havoc in the West, Tywin got the message out that anyone who could lure

It can, but it's only ever referred to as "Robert's Rebellion" in the books.

@hungaryBear:disqus That's not the "other" significance; it's THE significance I was getting at.  Unless Jon Snow turns out to be a dragon or GRRM has run out of fucks to give when it comes to continuity, it pretty much CAN ONLY MEAN Jon Snow is Azor Ahai.  I guess I never really completed the point I was making

I think you're confused about what constitutes a "good marriage" in Westeros.  Jon Arryn might not have been hot, but he was goddamn lord of the Vale.  That's some heavy duty shit right there.  Who could Lysa hope to marry that's better?  If you had told Hoster Tully that Lysa would marry the lord of the fucking Vale

Robb wouldn't care whether she was a noble or a commoner, he would never take a mistress.  Just because he made a stupid decision that his father never would have made doesn't mean he's ready to abandon all his father's principles.

wow I don't know what happened to the formatting there

While that is true, it would be totally out of character for Robb to
keep a stable of concubines, or even one - more out of character than
him breaking a marriage pact over romantic love.

Like I said, I didn't want to open that can of worms.

You're right, since Ned had so many mistresses and didn't give a shit whether Cat knew and fathered a shit load of bastard, and felt no shame over Jon, Robb should have no problem keeping a stable of women along with his legal wife.  He wanted to be just like his dad after all.

@avclub-c90d24f7f3c3bf0291a60677aab4c3c6:disqus Actually I was temped to include Mad Men as well, then later when I was offline, it occurred to me that Adventure Time might belong there as also.  Adventure Time is the only cartoon I've ever seen that felt "important."

Um, I'm pretty sure they had sex before they got married.  Just because they didn't state it outright, it doesn't mean they can't have gotten married for, more or less, the same reason in the book.

Old people don't like something new?  Tell me more.

As far as I can tell, it goes like this:
