I love Rush, but their catalogue is so vast it's impossible for anyone but a die-hard completist to hear it all.  So, yeah, I've never heard Lock and Key until just now and I have to say that that's the exact kind of Rush I love.  I love those thick, cushion-y, waves of keyboardiness as they wash over Geddy Lee highly

Is anyone else dreaming of an alternate reality where instead of Breaking Bad, Vince Gilligan created a show about a former crooked cop from Philly working in ABQ as a PI and occasional wet-work specialist named Mike?

I really like Girls.  I like shows about people doing people things.  There's a lot of simple understated drama in stories about imperfect people just trying to make their way in the world.  It doesn't have to be funny, and there doesn't have to be some kind of "hook" that makes it sound interesting when I describe it

I know it sounds strange, but I pretty much always envision XXD just like he was portrayed on the show, even going so far as to see him as dark-skinned rather than a milk-man.  Are we sure he wasn't from the Summer Islands in the book also?

Why does it matter is Xaro is gay or straight?  He wanted to marry Dany either way, and it doesn't affect the story one bit.  At least by making him straight, they had a good way to feed Doreah to the Red God since he was denied her death in the Red Wastes.

I think it's simply more than a 200 page difference.  My paperback copy of Storm of Swords is only a little longer, page-number wise, than my pb copy of Clash of Kings; however, the print and margins in Storm of Swords are smaller - so they're cramming more words onto each page.

I watched them back to back and thought about them without getting confused.  Writing is simply thinking while typing. lol

Question: is GRRM kicking himself for not coming up with that line himself, or kicking himself for inadvertently turning the franchise's big mythical hero into some sort of ham-man?

Yeah, it's definitely being used like "jump the shark" in this instance - in that it's being used in place of "I didn't like it" to lend the opinion more credence.
